Hi,
my sons' rooms are always flooded with sunlight....which makes it really hard for especially the youngest to go to bed without fussing at night....

So I want to buy some blinds for his room and came across room darkening blinds...

Do you have them....are they working well ??

I'm not a big curtain lover....I'd rather have blinds....

Thanks for your help !!!

What can I do next?

We got ours by measuring ourselves and ordering online, and my husband hung them...they work GREAT, we have the honeycomb ones with the foil lining inside and they keep the room much cooler also. I highly recommend them. I know you can also order them through Home Depot or Lowe's.

I would highly recommend Honeycomb Blackout shades as they are fantastic! If you can afford to spend a little extra, get Hunter Douglas Cordless Day-Night Shades, which allow you to do blackout fabric on the bottom and translucent fabric on the top. Then you have more options and they look great. This is what we have done in our kids rooms at 2 different houses now. You have to go through a dealer which you can find on their website. If you don't want to spend as much, then just a cordless blackout shade would work great.

Good luck!

Don't have room darkening blinds but, if you have drapes/curtains in their rooms you can also just buy blackout fabric that hooks into your existing curtains. I think you can still order it through Penney's. Also, don't put any film on your windows if you have double paned windows, it can cause the gas in between the panes to over heat and your windows to burst or crack.

We have room darkening shades in our bedroom, as it gets the most direct light all day and my hubby works midnights, so he sleep through the daytime. They definately work great. There is also a window tinting film you can put on the widows (you can purchase it and DIY or have a company do it for you). Aparently, its not permanent and can be easily removed and put back on again. I've never used it, but read onlines reviews that indicate people are pretty happy with it.

I buy alot of my window treatments at www.domestications.com online. I am a window blind fan myself. I don't use any room darkeing blinds but I know they have a huge selection of window treatments.

I had them in college LOL! I bought the cheap ones at Wal-Mart - they worked great! I'm sure you can better looking ones at JCPennys or Home Depot if you don't want the plain jane kind.

Yes they work great! I have them in my son's room from 3 day blinds and I love them. Right now the sun is blaring on my son's room but there is only a touch of light that comes in. So worth it.

Side note. My husband convinced me to not put them in our bedroom since they do make the room darker all the time. Every morning at 5 when the sun wakes me up I either: 1) go sleep in our guest bedroom that has room darkening blinds, 2) put a mask on my eyes 3) curse and swear this is the day I am going to call the company and get room darkening in my room (now my husband thinks it is a good idea, I just can't fathom getting three new blinds and not using the other ones).
