I plan on googling, but was wondering, does anybody have a website or blog they love that has RIDICULOUSLY easy crock pot recipes?

Looking for the "cut this meat, these veggies, add this item, these spices and heat", not the 27 different ingredients that have to be pre-prepped even before you crock-pot. Hubby is a first year resident and I'm trying to make life as easy as possible for myself and our family.

Thanks!

To answer Margie G's question, a little water (or soda) is a good idea. I usually add about 4 ounces of Coke or Sprite if I'm putting beef in the crock pot. The juices from the meat will often be enough.

I often use cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup. Sometimes I use canned veggies. Even though I drain the water, there is still some liquid in the veggies. Adding anything like that will help keep things from getting dry.

No website, but here is my easiest.
Put in meat of choice (chicken breasts, pork loin, or beef roast all work)
Put in 1 cup of salsa
Cook on low all day

Shred the meat when you get home, open a bag of shredded cheese, put a pack of flour tortillas on the table, plus what's left of the jar of salsa from the fridge and there you have a delicious taco dinner. If you want to get really fancy, open a can of black beans or refried beans and heat them up as a side dish.

Second easiest:
Put these things in the crock pot:
beef roast
1 bag baby carrots
1/2 bad frozen pearl onions
1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup beef stock
1 cup beer
Cook all day on low
Pick up some fresh bread on the way home, and have pot roast.

Not sure if you are into Pintrest, but if you search "5 ingredient crockpot recipes" and "5 ingredient slow cooker recipes" not only will you find a ton, but you will get "updates" on more based on your interest in said subject.

I also use www.totallythebomb.com for a lot of 3 ingredient crock pot recipes and a few others that have more ingredients, but usually use a lot of what I consider "staples" and always have on hand.

My personal favorite that I make here all the time is:

Pork shoulder or roast or sirloin (I use 3-5 lbs and whatever cut is on sale or I have on hand)
1 pkg of lipton onion soup mix
1 can of root beer, coke, dr. pepper (this one is the best), or dark beer - again, depending on what I have on hand.

Throw everything into the crockpot on low for 6-8 hrs, shred and cook for another hour. I have thrown a bag of coleslaw in during the last hour and turned up to med with great results, too.

Don't be afraid to just mix what you have on hand up and throw in a crock pot. Yesterday, I found 2 huge chicken breasts, a can of cream of chix soup, a 1/2 container of sour cream, and some shredded mozz cheese in my fridge (about 3/4 of a cup worth). I threw all that in the crock pot with a 1/2 cup of chix broth on low for 4 hrs, added a bag of mixed frozen vegies the last hour, shredded the chicken up and served the whole thing over egg noodles last night for dinner. Took me 5 min to make, 10 to boil the noodles before serving, and probably cost me less than 5 bucks to feed everyone, plus make lunch the next day with the leftovers for my hubby.

Good luck!

I found several crock pot cookbooks at my local library. One that I loved had prep work but then you just pulled the baggies from the freezer and in minutes had a meal to put in the crock pot to heat up.

This one was a combination of freezer meal stuff and crock pot stuff.

It had master meat...hamburger with onions and garlic, a little salt and pepper, then you divide it up into cups and freeze in quart size freezer bags. Then you take one out, put in the stuff, and it's almost an instant meal.

Thanks for asking this question P. - you've gotten a lot of good helpful answers here but I have a question for the "crockpot ladies". I have 2 crockpots and I have this problem with both of them and that is that they cook too fast even on low - I mean so many of these recipes say 6 to 8 hours and I can't cook past 3 hours on mine so I was wondering if anyone knows of a brand that really will cook low. Thank you all.

If you have a thrift store nearby, you can get cookbooks on nearly anything for super cheap. I like getting the old recipe books, where people cooked with real food and not fat free this and low calorie that. I'm sure you could find crockpot books that would feature simple recipes. The same is true if you have any antique malls/shops where you can get books for cheap. Another option is if your library holds periodic book sales. I have gotten grocery bags of books for $1 at times. Have fun!

Thank you for asking this. I have a crock pot and haven't used it in eons because I too was sick of the complicated recipes.

My question to moms is - what is the deal with crock pots - do you have to cover the meat with liquid? My sisters use them and say "Just throw this and that in" but I don't know if there's a rule of thumb as to knowing how much liquid is required.

thanks

Pinterest is practically the only site I go to anymore to search for recipes. There are so many, and they come from all over the internet so you're getting links to everything in one place.
If you don't want a lot of ingredients or steps look for "easy crock pot" and focus on the meat dishes. Usually cooking a roast or pork loin or pieces of chicken doesn't require much prep, and it's easy enough to do a quick vege, rice or potato or salad on the side.
