Restaurants near Nokia Theatre

There is nothing around Nokia. If you head west on I30 there are tons of places at 360 (near Hurricane Harbor) if you head east there are a few new resturants at Cockrell Hill & I30 (chili's and such). I can't think of any family owned places over there at all. I think they are all pretty much chain type (Joe's crabshack, Saltgrass, Papsitos, On the Border type places) in both directions. Next time I drive by, I will keep my eyes open and see if there is anything new and cool that looks like fun!

What direction are you coming from? If you are coming through Irving, there are lots of choices in every type of cuisine.

Is 6.5 miles north on Beltline too far? If not, this is a great suggestion:

Rudy's Mexican - a little hole-in-the-wall place that's been here for more than 30 years. I've been going there my whole life. It's wonderful food, the hot sauce is pretty spicy, but you can usually ask for a 'mild' one. The meals are around $10 a plate at dinner, you know the $7-13 range. They're family owned and have very good service.

I had the thought last night of Angelo's which is a great little Italian food place. They have very good thin crust pizzas, but they take a while to cook, so give yourself extra time for that. They're regular pasta dishes are good; things like spaghetti, chicken parmesean, lasagna, etc. They have steaks, but I wouldn't recomend them, because the food is cheap the steaks aren't very lean and very little seasoning. I see you live in Coppell, so you may be coming down Beltline through Irving. I second the Rudy's recommendation. It is just off of Beltline on Rochelle. Also, Po' Melvins is on the corner of Beltline and Walnut Hill. They have great "homecooking" type food with a little Louisiana flair. You'll often see the owner (Melvin--duh!) walking around, or his son. From 183 south, there's nothing til you get to Nokia.

There's nothing around there, just Nokia and Lone Star Park. You'll probably need to make plans to eat somewhere in Arlington or Dallas depending on where you are coming from.
