Reason for Repeat Miscarriages

Okay ladies, I'm asking for your experience here. I've had 5 perfect pregnancies with no issues at all. My hubby and I decided we'd try for #6 (a girl please God!), we've gotten pregnant twice now, but both times we had miscarriages. One was in September, just started bleeding and lost the baby right away before I ever saw a doctor. I was about 6 weeks.
Second one I'm in the middle of right now. Found out I was pregnant on Dec 23rd, started bleeding Dec 25th (Merry Christmas) and never stopped. I was about 5 weeks along when I started bleeding. I went to the doctor on the 29th and my HCG was 858 and they saw a small sack in my uterus.
I took a HPT this morning and it was negative, so my HCG dropped to nothing and I've lost the baby. I don't understand why this is happening. Because of my insurance situation (no insurance) I can't see a doctor unless I'm pregnant and the process takes so long that I'll be 8 weeks into any pregnancy before I can see an OB. So I'm wondering what I can do myself. Should I start using progesterone cream as soon I know I'm pregnant? Is low progesterone usually the culprit? I've never had my checked, since the baby is usually lost before the doctors get a chance to do anything.
Anyone been through this? Any advice? I'm not ready to give up yet.

UPDATE
My youngest son is 2 1/2. He breastfed until he was 18 months, so I didn't have a cycle until April. My cycle has been 35-45 days since I got it back, which is highly unusual. I'm thinking a lot of this may have to do with age, but I'm only 32!
Oh, I found out at my ultrasound on the 29th that I have a tipped uterus. Something else new.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the hugs and advice. We have started the process of removing chemicals from our home in our foods and cleaning products. I think I will step it up a notch and go organic in my skin care and get serious about organic food.
I will continue with my vitamins and buy Natural, organic progesterone cream to have on hand for next time (hopefully soon). I'm usually pretty lax about that stuff, but I won't be now. I think I'll start with the HPTs at 10 DPO so I'll find out ASAP and be able to start progesterone and get in with a doctor right away. Pray for me!
UPDATE:
I wanted to say thank you for the new responses, keep them coming. I appreciate any and all advice. I'm going to the doctor today to get his advice as well. I will be seeking a complete allergy test, for me and my son. I've noticed a huge difference in his ability to learn (he is developmentally delayed) as we change his diet so I think allergies could be an issue, perhaps for both of us.
I love doctors and I listen to them, but I just don't think they are the all-knowing elite. They are just people, and they don't know everything. They do make mistakes and sometimes their "education" gets in the way. I had a doctor yell at me and tell me there was no way my chiropractor had anything to do with fixing my sons ears, I knew he was wrong. So I do research on my own and make nutritional changes to help our health, I will also never discount the wisdom of other mothers. :-)
UPDATE #2
Okay, I found an answer. I went in for my ultrasound and found out I have PCOS. Yikes! Time for a big lifestyle change! Bye Bye carbs. I like you, but I like my body and my baby more.

I find it amazing and wonderful that you had five successful pregnancies with no miscarriages previously. I had two early miscarriages similar to what you've described before I had my daughter. Almost everyone I know has had one or more early miscarriages. The percentage of pregnancies that end in miscarriage if quite high. Although there are likely benefits to the steps you've noted, I would say just keep trying!

Go to an accupuncturist to help support. Start taking vitamins now...
cut out wheat. Start juicing! no caffeine....(they also have fertility herbs etc...)

Yes, low progesterone could be a problem..have your hormones checked..
Mine was low, and I had to take progesterone. We made it through, however
after that (2nd time) had a miscarriage..
so yes, check into low progesterone....they can put you on supplementation
the moment you know your pg and may be able to do something before~

I know you already posted your response, in addition to the organic healthy eating, try taking Vitex to balance your hormones. After breastfeeding for a year my cycles were at 46 days, then finally two years later my cycles as of 2 months ago began to stabilize. I also began taking Vitex half a year ago. Now my cycles are clockwork. I also chart online and on paper to compare at tcoyf.com . I initially suspected low progesterone levels since my luteul phase was less than 10 days, but now looking back I realized that it was just my body doing what it needed to do to get back to normal...especially after I spent $$$ (w/insurance help) confirming if something is or isn't wrong with me (it isn't).

Patience (like at least 3 months worth), organic eating, healthy lifestyle, take your prenatals now, baby aspirin during the whole cycle and add vitex to your list. Within your cycle, when you begin to ovulate (determined by charting or test strips) stop taking Vitex. Then begin again when you begin your next cycle. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

My hubby and me have two daughters 16yrs old and 2 years old. We had quite a few miscarriages between, but finally had another naturally. There were numerous culprits to my miscarriages...stress, slightly tilted uterus, a small fibroid, and low progesterone. The uterus and fibroid were found out during an HSG (hysterosalpingogram an X-ray test that examines the inside of uterus and fallopian tubes and the surrounding area.)

Before we got pregnant the final time I had to make changes as per the advice of my holistic doc: no more use of microwave, take a organic prenatal vitamin, take organic fruit & veggie pills, and once we got pregnant I had to use progesterone creme until I was 6 months pregnant and be on slight bed rest until 3 months along. I also had ob visits every other week from 6 weeks until I was 6 months along. That's what I had to do...it was worth it after numerous miscarriages and working with a holistic doctor and obgyn. Our oldest just loves her little sis. Plus, try to find a reasonable insurance so you get all the necessary testing. Maybe you need an HSG to inspect from an internal point of view what the cause is. I hope that you will achieve carrying another baby to full term again soon.

The tipped uterus could have something to do with it although I have it as well and have never had a misscarriage (i'm preg with #3 right now). This happened to my friend after having her 2 boys and she found out that she was in early menopause at 32 years old. you would know, though, if this were happening as you would have classic symptoms (irritability, weight gain, sleeplessness, night sweats, hot flashes, etc.). If you're experiencing any of these, you should really pay out of pocket and go to the Dr. Otherwise, they say miscarriages account for up to 25% of pregnancies so you may just have had your 25% right in a row. Just try again:)

Low progesterone, adrenal gland problems, nutritional deficiencies, or no known problems. Honestly, sometimes (a lot of times, actually) miscarriages can't be explained. How young is your last baby? It could be you are having children too close together. Your body has to recoup. The more children you have back to back, the more trauma it is to your body. Obviously, we don't know if that's the case. If it is, your body is trying to tell you something. If you've had a baby recently, you should probably take a break. Obviously that's a hypothetical, since we don't know time frame.
How old are you? The older you get, the hard it is for your body to sustain a pregnancy.

Another area that most people are unaware of is that (undiagnosed) Celiac disease or gluten intolerance will also affect a woman's fertility/cause miscarriages.

If you can't get tested (no insurance--usually you get the tests done by a Naturopathic doctor. You can get a test that checks for egg, gluten/gliadin, milk (casein, whey), and soy (all for IgA) for about $50.), consider eliminating EVERYTHING that has anything to do with gluten and gliadin proteins in it--anything with wheat, barley, rye, spelt, tricale. You have to be very vigilant, because byproducts of wheat hide in everything. However, if you're serious about another baby, this would be a very good avenue to check out.

Good luck.

Hi J.,

I'm so sorry for your losses. I had a friend that had multiple miscarriages before she had her first child. Her's was induced by her work. She was a artist and the fumes from the paint were causing her to miscarry. I'm not saying this is your problem but you need to look at all the things that are going on around you. Did you move? Environmental issues are different everywhere. Are you using the same cleaning supplies as before? Has your husband changed careers and bringing home things on his clothes? Are you going to a gym and being exposed to excessive amounts of bleach? You following me?

Hope my two cents help. Our lives changed for the better when we detoxed our home and removed everything synthetic out.

God bless,

M.

I'm sorry for your loss. I have had 3 miscarriages.
I have a tipped uterus and it was a non issue for pregnancy.
I think it's unwise to try to diagnose yourself and what to do (progesterone cream) without the advice of a doctor.
Go to a clinic and pay for the visits.
Seriously, if you can't do that, I'm wondering why you would be trying to have a sixth child.
God Bless.

most pregnancies miscarry because of genetic problems. something is wrong.. and the pregnancy fails. I had 2 miscarriages... very early just like you .. went to the dr.. they prescribed progesterone oral pills.. I took them from cycle day 16 went to the dr on day 29 blood pregnancy was positive. the dr said I should stay on progesterone until week 11 when the the placenta was making progestone. may baby was born on time at normal weight..

I got pregnant again.. not exactly planned but wanted went to the dr at week 6 ... they didnt prescribe progestone.. I carried the pregnancy to term and had a healthy baby..

If you can go to the dr and have them check for any new problems that may be causing your miscarriages... YOu have had other successful pregnancies so that is a good sign.

Does your insurance pay for regular physical exams? If so, I suggest you make an appointment for a general exam and talk with your doctor about your pregnancy concerns at the same time. I urge you to not attempt self-treatment without knowing what is medically involved. You could really mess yourself up.
