My husband and I decided to rent a home for the next few years. We are pretty adamant about staying in Frisco. Right now I am using a realtor I found online but he hasn't been able to find me anything yet. I was wondering if he did find me something am I responsible for paying him or does that fall to however listed the property? We fell in love with a home over the weekend and wanted to see it yesterday but when he called in the afternoon to schedule the appt he found out it was leased already. It seems most homes in Frisco are listed with Realty companies. We are looking for a 3 bd with a nice size backyard and decent square footage.

You can get a lot of good info using rent.com. I do not have any property in Frisco and am not familiar with the rental market there, but I can tell you that many landlords do not use realty companies because they do have to pay that fee; however, in a really good market landlords do not bother to pay advertising costs and instead just put signs out in front of the property with flyers - so it may be that you are only seeing the ones that are advertised and those happen to be with realtors. My advice - find a couple of neighborhoods that you like and start driving around looking for "for rent" signs and follow up with them quickly. Those who know the Frisco market could let us know if I'm wrong about this.
