We will find out tomorrow just how far we are. I have been having morning sickness so bad that I hate to eat. I feel like I ate a 12 course meal everytime that I eat. Then I am miserable for a few hours afterwards. I have made my portions alot smaller but I am just miserable. I had morning sickness with my daughter but nothing like this. I have found that a few things that I eat I throw up afterwards so I have cut them out totally. I told my doctor about it and he told me to have smaller portions more frequently. But I just can't do it. Can anyone plz give me some advice as to what to do? I know that I need to eat for my health and the babies but it just makes me so ill that I am afraid to eat. Plz help. Thanx

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your advice. I started drinking ginger ale and that seems to help. I also munch on crackers during the course of the day. It seems to be getting better but not much. I was able to eat pork chops, a potato and some veggies last night and I felt pretty good. I also had chicken nuggets, french fries and a iced tea for lunch at McDonalds and was able to eat it all. Felt alittle sick afterwards but not like it was. I know what to avoid cause of vomiting. So thank you all again for your suggestions. They are really helping me out alot. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

I was pregnant almost 12 years ago but I still remember the morning sickness. At the time I was commuting to New York City at 5:30 am. I remember standing on the train platform and dry heaving over the tracks - ugh - don't miss those days. The ONLY thing that helped me was to eat a few crackers with some cheese. That seemed to settle my stomach somewhat. One note - the prenatal vitamins were ADDING to my sick stomach (I've never been able to take vitamins, don't know why I thought I'd be able to take them when I was pregnant). My doctor said it was OK for me to skip them. As soon as I stopped taking them, the morning sickness disappeared - could have been that I was maybe 3-4 months along at that point or it was just the vitamins. I'll never know. Feel better!

Not sure where you live however, I am in Louisville, KY there is a natural foods store here called Rainbow Blossom. I went there and bought ginger. Ginger Ale, Ginger cookies DO NOT work. There isn't enough ginger in those. Instead there was pure pieces of ginger made with raw cane sugar, kind of like dried fruit or crystallized ginger. Also, they had a spread made of pure ginger you could spread it on toast or just eat it right out of the spoon. All I know is ginger worked for me and I thank god I found it!!! Here is a link, I hope it helps!!!

Soon -you will probably get a craving for something at least once a day-eat that-no matter how strange-and it will help. For me, in the past, I could eat oranges, potatoes-prepared any way, nachos, etc-The nacho craving was hard because I had to load all the children into the car to go to this one restaurant to get them-but they would bring them out to the car for me! Good luck! It goes away at about 12 wks.

I had morning sickness that lasted from 6 weeks until 3 days after my daughter was born. I took 1/2 tablet of Unisom and Vitamin B6. Eventually, I stopped the B6 but had to continue taking Unisom every night, and sometimes once during the day, for the duration of my pregnancy. My doctor recommended it, so ask yours if it would be ok. Other than that, I found that when I couldn't keep food down, that I could drink carnation instant breakfast without problems.
Hope this helps!

I had 9 months of morning sickness with my first two pregnancies, and found and discovered acupuncture with my third, which pretty much cleared it up -- there was still the occasional bout of nausea and vomiting, but it went from almost every time I ate to maybe once a week or so, so I very highly recommend finding an acupuncturist. At first you'll probably have to go every 2 days or so, but after the first week or two, you can start spreading them out... eventually you may be able to stop completely. Even I was able to stop by about 7 months.

There's also a book called Managing Morning Sickness by Miriam Erick which is really good and I loan to my clients and students with this problem (I am a doula and a childbirth educator.)

Hope this helps.

After you've exhausted your search for a natural remedy to nausea and you find nothing is working, ask your ob/gyn for Zofran. It is an anti-nausea medication and I only had to take 1 pill to feel better in 5 minutes. I think I only took about 5 of them total during my 3 months of horrible sickness. I promise you - nothing natural works like this.
And if you have heartburn too, Zantac is awesome. Ask her for some of that too.

Try Ginger tea, or crystallized ginger.
anything with alot of peppermint oil/leaves will help as well, Peppermint tea or just plain old peppermints
Have you tried eating before you get out of bed in the morning.
Have a pack of crackers and water sitting by the bed for before you get up in the am.
Peanutbutter crackers something with protein in it will last longer in your stomach, so try snacking throughout the day instead of out right eating.
The only things I could eat when I was prego with my first were mcdonalds cheese burgers and spaghetti o's

I did the unisom and B6 as well. Helped a little. I also ate a lot of Matzoh crackers. They are a bit like a sturdier saltine and it really helped when I was starving but couldn't keep anything down. And so did Ginger Ale.

I like minty tea, crystallized ginger and pickled ginger (it's sweet) when my stomach is feeling crummy. I tried ginger tea, but I couldn't find one I liked - too spicy. Sip water and ginger ale. (Ginger ale works for me but not for everyone).
Although I never had morning sickness, I did go through LOTS of Tums (with calcium) because I had horrible heartburn. Keep a few plain saltine crackers next to your bed to nibble before you get up.
A nibble here and there can add up over the day. If more than a mouthful upsets your system, never have more than a mouthful at one time.
You'll get through this. Hang in there!

Hi C.
Sorry you are going through this. I had really bad morning sickness with my first that lasted all the way through. I am now 5 weeks pregnant with my second and can't believe that I have none so far.
As suggested below ginger is brilliant.
Also crackers first thing in the morning.Really try to eat small regular meals.
Try acupuncture. Also there is a band you can buy in health food shops(can't remember exact name). Its for motion sickness. It really helps.
Also on a psychological level try to stay strong.Advise I got from a woman that has 12 children was to embrace the baby, don't let the sickness control you,as you body might reject the baby.I found her words great as it helped me stay strong.
Another thing to note that morning sickness is a sign of a very healthy baby.
All the best
