Have you tried to buy one of those vibrating teething rings? I got one as a baby shower gift for my daughter, and she loved it, I used it on my son also and he loved it, Neither one of my kids took the bitter biscuits because of that.

sounds like he is allergic to them. don't give them to him for awhile then try it again. if the same thing happens then you might need to find another form of teething rings are something.

Hi, A..
I gave my son one of those biter biscuits and the tip broke of from the saliva and my son choked. He was in his highchair and I was standing at the sink. I heard him choke, I looked over and he was grasping for air. I grabbed him and hit his back and out flew the chunk of biscuit. I'm telling you this b/c I did not think it would dissolve like that. My son did not have any teeth when this happened, he just sucked and gummed the piece.
As far as the breaking out, it might be a mixture of the saliva and the ingredients of the biscuit. On top of choking, my son's chin and area around his lips were red after chewing on the biscuit. I stopped using it after he choked. Good luck.

well, at least you know it's something he can't have. Try the toast, but for a five month old, I'd get a teething ring, it's more gentle and no aleric reaction will take place. Try the ones you can chill or freeze it kinda numbs the gums

YOu might have another thing to worry about.. May I ask... IF it was messy.... how did you clean it up??? Did you use a diaper wipe?????

We use diaper wipes to clean up after our son eats.. and ya know.. he is allergic to Pampers wipes... allll pamper wipes!!!!!

He got a rash... and blisters.... little red dots... on his face when we cleaned his face... on his hands and arms and his poor bottom.....

so just wanted to pass that on.....

IF your son is allergic to the teething biscuits.. just call the company.. tell them your child is allergic.. maybe they will send you a coupon for another of their products.... And if you know somebody that has a baby you can pass them on...

Good luck!!!

Hi A.,
I have worked early childhood care for a long time and in my observance yes there could be several reasons easy thought is allergy as most people do, let me give you another spin to think about. Most parents try out the bitter biscuits because the child is bitting and drooling on everything trying to cut in new teeth...During this time the bitter buiscuts have to eventually get soft but have you ever wondered how long it takes to get soft by just saliva alone? Well about 15 minutes to be really soft and a bit sooner if the child is really knawing on it causing a brownish mess all over their hands, face, hair, bib, highchair, ect... where I am going here is there is this substance on there faces arms , hands and elsewhere for an extended period of time and can be irritating just as the first time you may have tried a new make-up or facial lotion/moisturizer and the skin sometimes is just in a bit of a shock with the saliva and the biscuit...resulting in a rash. That has been my experience for the first few weeks of the bitter buiscuts, graham crackers or anything else for that matter including breastmilk or formula as the baby is just first learning how to swallow and it seems to hover on the chin or under the folds in the neck. I am not ruling out any allergies and only a doctor can tell you yes or no on that but dealing with many infants from 3 weeks to 5 years old this has been the most common experience, if you are concerned definitly call your child's doctor.

Good Luck,
S. and let us know
