I never got razor burn before, but now I get it all the time. My razor burn issues started when I got pregnant with my son and really bad after I delivered him. Then I got pregnant with my daughter and I never got razor burn again, until she was delivered. I can't seem to get smooth anywhere on my body. Has anyone out there experienced this or have some home remedies for razor burn, HELP! Summer is coming up and I don't want to wear slacks all summer.

What can I do next?

Try a dime size ball of 1% hydro cortisone cream mixed in with whatever lotion you would normally put on after the shower. It works wonders, and isn't as expensive as the commercially available stuff (like bath and body works' "over the bump" which also works well).

A nurse once told me to help with exzema and other skin problems, it is best to mix desitin and vasiline together. Take a warm bath to open the pores and before you dry off take the mix and cover all the areas that is having a problem and go to bed. I use it on my hands and it is wonderful. Hope this helps.

I know you've gotten a lot of advice, but one more won't hurt :)

I use a sugar scrub before shaving in the shower and it leaves me silky smooth.

Also, there is a product on the market called Tend Skin (it may be all one word), it carried at some salons, I believe Sephora carries it also. But you put this on before you shave and after and it REALLY works for ingrown hairs and razor burn BIG TIME!!! My dermotologist told me about it.

Good Luck with no more bumps!!

have you tried an eletric razor or that new thing that doesn't use a blade, I think it's call Veet(I'm not sure if that's the name) it's in the razor section. Maybe one of these will help.

I had this same problem under my arms during my last pregnancy. I changed from shower gel to soap and I also changed my deoterate to a sinsitive one and didn't/don't have this problem anymore. You may want to check into the products you are using when you shave and after, as it may be irritating your skin.

I use this stuff from Pure Romance called Coochy. It is an all over body shave that clams to be rash free, I have used it for a couple of years, and no razor burn yet!

Hi T.,

I have found that using hair conditioner helps with the razor burn. I used it and no more burn, also try baby oil after you shave and I read a self help tip in a mag that said to wait an hour after waking up to shave that way your natural body oils can get to the hair folicals and moisten them.

Hope this works and Good Luck.

This may sound strange and painful, but try it and see if it works. I had trouble with ingrown hair and minor razor burn issues. A friend of mine sugested using a loofa stone before shaving and I have been smooth ever since. Start gently, rub troubled area in the direction of the hair. After a week or so your skin gets used to it and becomes smooth and silky without the chemical peel. I use my loofa stone about once a week now with continued results. Hope that helps.

I used baby soft Skintimate, but I see Aveeno has a shave gel as well. I have found that Aveeno products to be helpful with skin issues, my twins use Aveeno baby lotion because their legs get really dry and they are sensitive to other lotions. I get razor burn now and then, usually if I hurry and go too fast or don't use the shave gel and just use soap.

good luck!

Hi! For bikini line razor burn, try roll-on vitamin E oil after you shave--it works GREAT! You can buy it at health food stores.

Well I've had a lot of itch leg problems and razor burn too! But I found out my skin problems are mostly due to diabetes type 2! So I tried ever lotion there is and finally I found one that work! Its Fruit of the earth Cocoa Butter and vitamin E!After a while of using it, it actually starts to make your leg hair softer! And always make sure you use a triple blade razor thats not dull, and make sure you use shaving cream thats nice and thick! And try not to go to close to the skin cause that will cause raizor burn also! And if you get razor burn dont shave the next day and out extra lotion on that day! Just let it heal and then try shaving the next day!
