Question Regarding Trimesters and Months Pregnant...

Since the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have always been confused but never asked any questions. My question is: if I am in my 29th week of pregnancy and due November 25th. I am in my third trimester, right? But what month? Am I in my 6th, 7th or 8th? I have been reading but it just confuses me more.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

Lori: My doctor advised not to try to mix the two. Go by weeks because that is what they go by in the medical profession. I have a daily calendar I found online that shows weeks/months pregnant. By that calendar I am in my eight month and am 28 weeks (due December 3rd). I does get very confusing but I have tried to stick to weeks. Hope this helps.

Congrats on the new baby. If you technically want to know the persice month, here is how it works with other things. There are exactly 4.3 weeks in a month according to the federal/state gov't (take 53 wk and divide by 12 months). A women is technically pregnant for 9.3 months. If you take 29 weeks and divide by 4.3 you are 6.74 months pregnant. And since that is so LONG and CONFUSING, most people just go by an average, like pregnancy is 9 months instead of saying it is 9.3 months long. Plus, by the time we hit 8 months we get in a big hurry to have the baby out (until delivery comes that is :) Best of Luck and enjoy your pregnancy while you can.

I'm with you the weeks and trimester had me very confused. but you are 7 months. i always looked at it that if a new month came i became another month. so in aug you were 6 months so sept has come i would say your 7 or about to be but close to it. i would just say 7 months. because in two months you will be having your little bundle of joy. so i never tried to do the weeks or trimester i just said months. or if you want to you know there is 4 weeks in a month. it you take 4 and add it 7 times it will give you 28 weeks. thats another way you can do it. that will still give you 7 months.

I know what you mean about being confused, I've given birth to 6 children, but I was only pregnant for 9 months each time Now that my daughters are pregnant they're talking about 40 weeks. Isn't 9 x 4 = 36. I can't figure this out either. It seems like since you're 29 weeks pregnant now you should be 7 months and 1 week pregnant.
When is a mother nine months pregnant,-- on her due date? LOl

Congrats!! Check www.whattoexpect.com. They have a good calendar. Remember, most months don't just have 28 days, so 4 weeks doesn't equal a month.

August is your 6th month, if I did my counting right.

Count back from November. Nov. is your 9th so, Oct is 8, Sept is 7 and August would be 6. :)

There is a wonderful website called babycenter.com If you go there they have a calender you can use to see where you are at for your pregnancy. It i think breaks it down to your trimester and the months. Also they figure trimesters are all 3 months. So the first 3 months are the first trimester and the 2nd trimester being months 4, 5 and 6 and 3rd trimester being months 7, 8 and 9. each month is 4 weeks with week 1 starting the first day of your last menstration. So your whole pregnancy equals out to 9 months and 36 weeks. Good luck and congrats on the little bundle of joy being born soon!

most doctors go by a 10 month pregnancy. months 1-3 are the first trimester, 4-7 are the 2nd & 8-10 are the third.

Congratulations!

If you're due date is November 25, then you likely got pregnant about February 25. So you're into your 7th month (barely).

My first daughter's due date was November 14, and second daughter's due date was November 28 -and both were with the help of a dr. so we pretty much knew.

Most things I have read say that is the third trimester, but realistically, doctors today go more by week than trimester or month anyways. I wouldn't stress too much about it - and think only a little bit left until you meet your new love!

First off CONGRATS! :) I may be mistaken, I did just work four nights of night shift and on my way to bed...but I figured you to be in your 7th month. You actually carry 9 whole months, making your due date the last day of 9months/1st day of 10 months. There are approx. 4 weeks a month, you carry for 40 weeks (suppose to anyways, rarely turns out to be exactly 40). 40/4=10 (giving you that due date on the first day of the 10th month.) You are 29 weeks along so 29/4=7.25 months (giving you how far along you are.)
I hope this helps some. :)

This is how I have always understood it

weeks 1,2,3,4 = month 1
weeks 5,6,7,8 = month 2
weeks 9,10,11,12 = month 3
weeks 13,14,15,16=month 4
weeks 17,18,19,20 = month 5
weeks 21,22,23,24 = month 6
weeks 25,26,27,28 = month 7
weeks 29,30,31,32= month 8
weeks 33,34,35,36 = month 9
weeks 37,38,39,40 = month 10

Week 1 starts with the first day of your last period, and week 3 (approximately) being when you ovulate.

There are differing rules on the exact timing. I'm 13 weeks and in limbo between the first and second according to differing opinions on this. According to the "Mayo Clinic Complete Book of Pregnancy and Baby's First Year" a huge text book my OB/Gyn gave me it says "The First trimester lasts 12 weeks, the second from 13 to 27 weeks, and the third from 28-40", so yes, you are in the third trimester.

I think you're in the seventh month.

I think the "month" question is a little harder to answer because it is so confusing - am I three months pregnant at the end of the third month, or the beginning? I think most doctors don't even refer to "months" anymore since the week number is more accurate and easy to follow, of course then it gets confusing because some talk about weeks since conception and other talk about Gestational age which starts with the first day of your last period.

I hope this helps!
