Hi!
We are thinking of buying a home either in Plano or Frisco. I was not too sure about the schools in Frisco though. How would all of you rate the schools there? Plano is a very good school district, but then we'd have to settle for slightly older home. Looking for about 2800+ sq.ft area. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks.

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all your responses!
We are actually working with a realtor, but i just wanted to find out from other people actually living in Frisco if they are happy with their choice. My husband works off Luna Rd on I-635, so keeping that in mind, we want the commute to be as short as possible (well a little bit at least!) We went and looked at the Grayhawk community on the north east of Dallas PKWY. Any opinions on that one? If you have any suggestions or opinions about any other upcoming good community, I'd appreciate any input.
Once again thanks for everyone's help.
P.

I would be happy to provide you with statistics and have homes that meet your criteria automatically emailed to you as they become available. Neighborhoods vary within school districts as well and many offer different ameneties, etc. Do you want your children to be able to be bussed to school, or do you prefer them to be very close? I live in Allen, my children are in the Plano School District as School Districts do not recognize city boundaries.

Frisco schools have many that are acceptable and exemplary -several were too new to be evaluated, but have made a good reputation for themselves for a city that expanded so quickly.

Hi,
Call Corey Young with Remax Associates of Dallas. She knows Plano and Frisco VERY well!! She is not only an excellent Realtor but I have known her for years. She is a very good friend. Even if you just have questions, she will be happy to answer them for you. NO obligations, I promise. SHe isn't like that at all. She can set you up on this thing called auto search where she can email you tonz of homes with all the info and pics to look at on your time. She is currently helping my dad and his wife shop for a home in the Plano/Frisco area. What you will like about her is that she is so very honest and considerate of what YOU want. She is a mom herself of young kids and so she really understands the importance of good schools. Go ahead and call her. You will be happy you did. Feel free to tell her that R. Rhodes gave you her number. Like I said, I have known her for years. Her number is ###-###-####. Oh and if you would rather shoot her an email if that is easier, her email address is: ____@____.com
Good luck!

Hi there! Most of the schools in Frisco are exemplary rated. Always check with your real estate agent, though. There are many new communities also that are selling "spec" houses for really good prices.

P.,

I wanted to check to make sure that my response was not redundant. I'm a real estate agent and agree that the information can be obtained for you, so that you can make the best decision based on the latest statistics.

But one thing that I would recommend to you, even if there are statistics, I would encourage you to at least visit the schools in that area to make sure that they meet your criteria and it would be a good fit for your children. It's easy to have stats only to find out that your or your children do not like the school.

I have friends that have recently moved to Frisco, and they love the elementary school that their daughters attend.

If you would like to contact me, please feel free to call at ###-###-####.

Hi, P., we just moved to Frisco last month and I had the exact same struggle you are having - I wanted to live in Plano (cuz its closer to our jobs and b/c of the schools), but no such luck - we looked at over 30 older homes and the one we actually made an offer on, we got outbid so I gave up and bought a much newer home in Frisco and we love it! I'm very excited about the schools here being new and up to date (my son is only a baby so won't start for 4 more years). I have 2 friends who live in Craig Ranch and love it and love the schools that their children attend. I really think Frisco schools are going to be quite competitive with Plano - they are a far cry above Dallas ISD and many other suburban districts. Also, I'm in love with Frisco now and all the things we have there - Stonebriar, FC Dallas, Roughriders, Collin County College, great downtown area. And our house is about a mile away from the Shawnee Trail Sports Complex where our little guy will play football or baseball. And once 121 and Tollway are all done - it'll be even better. So there's my two cents for ya - come to Frisco! Good Luck!
