I've never bf before and I'm 27 weeks along with baby #3. I'm going to bf this go round. I'm getting really leaky already and I'm just curious- are there women out there that are lactating enough before actually having the baby to be able to pump it and freeze it?? if so how do you go about doing that? when do you realize there's enough production in place for it to be worth while??? thanks in advance :)

What can I do next?

Nope, def don't pump now. Nipple stimulation can cause contractions or even bring on labor.

This is just your body's way of getting ready.

Your milk changes as baby gets older too. Pretty cool stuff. The first few days it will only be colostrum. That is the liquid gold. Contains tons of antibodies to help protect baby in this big new world. If you tried to pump this you wouldn't get much. That's ok! Don't pump it. Let baby do their thing. Breastfed babies don't need the volume that a bottle baby gets. Then your milk will come in and baby will work over the next 6 weeks or so to tell your body to make exactly what he/she needs.

It's great that you are planning on breastfeeding this go round. It really is a wonderful thing to do for you and especially for baby. I highly encourage you to learn as much as you can about breastfeeding *before* baby gets here. It is nothing like bottle feeding. The breastfed baby is a completely different animal in their patterns for the most part. Martha Sears has a good basic breastfeeding book. Breastfeeding.com and kellymom.com are also great resources. The more you know about breastfeeding the better you will do with it. While it is the most natural thing in the world it goes smoother when you know more because you will be more confident in your ability to feed baby.

And one more bit of advice-always be confident and follow baby's lead! You won't go wrong if you do this. And don't let people make you feel like you don't have enough milk or wont' be able to feed baby on your own. Millions of women have done it and do it everyday. Baby will tell you what he/she needs. I can't tell you how many "ah ha!" moments I had when I was nursing my 1st. But by following his lead he got my body to make exactly what he needed!

Best to you and baby!

I wouldn't do it because you could risk going into pre-term labor with excessive nipple stimulation.

I wouldn't pump yet. Your boobs will leak while pregnant but don't start pumping yet.
