I have a crock pot and I'm dying to try it but I cant decide what to make. I'm only cooking for my daughter and myself so if it is not something she's gonna like, I'm gonna be eating the same thing for a long time. So please share your kid tested and approved recipies with me.

Hi Michelle, below is a recipe for pork chops made in the crock pot that are SO good! This is by far the most requested crock pot recipe in our house - even my 4 year old and 1 year old like them! Hope you & your daughter like them too!

CROCK POT PORK CHOPS

Ingredients:
3-4 pork chops - the thicker the better, bone-in/center-cut kind
1/2 cup flour
1 Tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 Tbsp. oil
Can of Chicken & Rice soup (the Large family size)

Directions:
Dredge pork chops in mixture of flour, salt, dry mustard & garlic powder. Lightly brown chops in oil in a large skillet. Place browned pork chops in a crock pot (I usually spray the bottom with non-stick spray first). Pour soup over the chops. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours. I usually make Stove Top stuffing to go with because the chicken & rice soup that you cook them in doesn't really provide a side dish, just makes the chops nice and tender. Enjoy!

Both my 3 and four year olds like crockpot pot roast. All it is a chuck roast, potatos (red ones work best), veggies of your choice (the kids like carrots best) and one of those McCormick slow cooker pot roast packets. It will tell you how much water to add. Adding some celery also works well for adding a little flavor and a little water.

FYI-not sure how others do it, but I like to brown the meat and add a little salt and pepper on the stovetop before putting it into the slow cooker.

Dear M.,

My kids love the different things in the crock pot. I let them help with different things. We even make hot dogs in the crock pot. My son loves chicken breast and potatoes from the crock pot. I put two small chicken breast in the crock pot and some chicken broth, peel two potatoes and cook on low all day. By the time we eat the chicken almost falls apart and then the potatoes also done. It gives it just a little extra flavor. If you like chili you can make that in the crock pot. My son also loves pot roast with the carrots and potatoes whe put water and the french onion soup mix in it. My daughter is not really a meat eater, put she love the veggies. I think her favorite crock pot receip is chicken noodle soup. Before you buy any cook books I would go to the library first and see if you want them. I do love the fix it and forget it. We use that one a lot. Just remember that a lot of those receipes are for four people. I just cut the quantities in half. Both of my kids love the frozen bag that is herb chicken and rice that you put in the crock pot. Have fun and enjoy the crock pot. Oh if you buy the crock pot bags they have some receipes on the box.

There is a cookbook you can get at Target called Fix it and forget it. Their recipes are awesome. I've cooked lasagna in mine, sloppy joe, pasta sauce, enchillada bakes. There are even recipes for cakes and other desserts but have yet to try them. I love it for summer because I can put it all together and then leave and play all day coming home to a dinner for all.
