Mamas & Papas -

DS will be two in october. He's wild about trains, but he is also absolutely crazy about pigeons. Chasing them, watching them fly etc. There are a bunch of ideas about train parties out there, do you know any resources/ have any ideas for a pigeon party.

I'd like ideas for invites, wording, party foods, games, activites, favors, cake decor etc. We will have the party at our apt and expect about a dozen kids and as many as 15-20 adults.

Thanks a bunch,
F. B.

What can I do next?

I don't really have any party ideas but I have a great gift idea. If your son loves pigeons you must, must, must check out the pigeon series of books by Mo Willems (that's not a mispell.) Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late, etc. So cute and funny!

Well, that's a new one! Never heard of a pigeon party but it sounds like it could be cute. The only problem is probably no one makes any type of pigeon decorations, etc.! I just checked the Oriental Trading Company and they have lots of bird stuff but no pigeons.

You might have to get very creative and just make your own decorations, favors, etc. if you really want pigeons.

Personally, I would stick to the train idea; much easier!!

Good luck!!

I would search doves/birds and rename them pigeons. Maybe some origami birds in the decor and paper airplane/birds for favors? Definitely search etsy, pinterest etc. I read your post because it's adorable that he likes pigeons! Good luck!

Why not just do the train party? It would be so much easier!

I'd check etsy.om.

And maybe look for some links related to "Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus" or to "Doin' the Pigeon". perhaps you could find inspiration there.

Maybe mix both and have a Pigeon driving the Train party?

Maybe do a Chex mix and call it pigeon breadcumbs, good for a snack or favor?

Have you ever seen the sticks that have a string with a paper bird attached to it (you can make the birds fly) That could be a cute decoratoin or favor.

Where do you usually see your pigeons? If in the park, maybe include the park theme into your decor/invites.

Does he like Bert (as in Bert and Ernie) from Sesame Street? Bert is a big pigeon fan, and almost everything I see with Bert has a pigeon with it somewhere. At the very least, you can find some pigeon songs that Bert sings.
