Party Favors for Babies as Well???

So if you attend a birthday party for a toddler or preschooler and take your baby with you , would you expect party favors for the baby as well? My friend had few moms like this with 2 kids and another new mom with just a 6 month old baby(her cousin) , so the babies came and did not get favors. I think it's just fine because they are babies and can't use any of the toys that were part of the party favor , but curious to know what others think about this?

What can I do next?

I did not expect one when I used to bring my daughter, but I did always provide one at my own kid's birthdays for all children in attendance, even infants. For the little ones, usually just a board book or a small stuffed animal. I'd give bubbles if they were a bit older (6+ months). I would not feel slighted at all though if my son was invited to a party and his little sister came along but didn't get a goody bag.

For my daughter's birthday we only had one baby there (besides her :)

We did a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme and I got a box of Runts for each child that came and put round green garage sale type stickers and a pink sticker on them in the shape of the caterpillar then wrote "Thank you!" on the circles that made the body. (yes - I felt very clever - hee hee)

For the baby (she was about 6 months old) I got a container of baby food carrots and put the stickers on there. I just thought that is was fun and cute. I also got her "big" brother a package of M&Ms and put the stickers on them since he was not old enough for hard candies like Runts yet.

I don't think anyone expected it, but I have smaller parties with close friends, so I like to do things like that.

I would not expect a favor. I have however given a baby a favor in the form of a new blanket. It was the first time I had met the baby, and that baby was the only 'kid' not leaving with something. :)

I think goodie bags and favors are over rated. Most people spend so much money on a child's party....any extras are not necessary.

As the parent of a child invited to a party, if I brought an extra child that wasn't invited (i.e. my BABY), no I would not expect some sort of equivalent party gift. I think it's rude to expect anything other than my kids is going to go to this party. It's a "favor". It's even in the name.

Expected, No. Fun, Yes!
Not the cheap little things you put in typical kids' bags but something more age appropriate of course.
One of our friends has found the best way in my opinion. She got tired of tracking down lots of cheap little things that got left behind half the time. She said she'd rather spend the money on one nice thing and call it a day. So for a pool party she gave all the kids water guns, another party she gave all the kids a small nerf gun. She would then made up bags for the younger ones that had something like a rattle or whatever that was more appropriate. One of my daughter's favorite dolls came from one of those "goodie bags", it's just a small $5 doll at most. Outside of the one item she maybe includes a sucker or the bag of whatever from the piñata if she does one. Amount spent is the same as most people spend on all the nick nacks no one keeps.

I think it would be ridiculous to expect a party favor for an infant and it would never occur to M. to buy a party favor for an infant. Then again, I think party favors in general are silly although I buy them when my daughter's have parties:)

I would never expect to receive one, but I have given them. Because buying things for babies is fun and I want to do it. When my son turned 2 we invited everyone at his small in-home daycare to a party and some of the kids were babies. I had both toddler and baby favors as appropriate. The baby favors went over well.
I would think it was a nice gesture if I was the new mom, but would never think twice about it if my baby didn't receive a favor. In fact, I do remember attending some parties when my two were smaller, and one sticks in my mind where the mom gave my 6-8 month old a small teddy bear but I don't think any of the others had baby favors.

I think party favors are silly for anyone and will not be drawn in to this fad. So no, the baby's would not get a reward for coming to a birthday party.

I'm odd mom out here, which is fine :) I don't do the cheap trinket stuff in goody bags, but make my own suckers and such. For next month's pirate party I'm putting a treasure chest sucker, homemade pirate playdough and a cookie cutter, a homemade spyglass, and treasure chest candy. (I'm not keeping all that here, my guy just finished his Halloween candy last week.) I make more suckers then I need in case there's siblings, and would offer one to the mom of a baby or toddler, it's not my call if they let their little one eat candy.

I never expect a goody bag or favor, the treat is the party. Plus I don't like the trinkety stuff. But I LIKE putting together bags for the kids, it adds to their fun and excitement, and I include everyone in that so have extras of some stuff for the parents and siblings.

No, party favors are not for infants. An infant does not need one. I can't see a parent expecting this. If it's a family party, then I understand that the babies were invited, but I also think it's inappropriate when a parent brings an uninvited sibling to a birthday party to expect a party favor or goody bag for that kid. It blows my mind sometimes (often) to see what people think that they are entitled to.

I never expected them, but I have made them for all of my kids' parties. I usually make them with some type of board book, maybe a soft blanket, or baby socks. All the cute little inespensive stuff I love for babies. :)

If you must favor they should only be for the one INVITED, not the "tag-a-longs."

I however, do NOT like the idea of favors and will not be implimenting them in my son's bday parties.

I would not expect one, but I have seen them given out before. A bag of candy handed to the parents instead, and also board books for the younger ones instead of regular favors.

The party was for the preschooler/toddlers, not the babies.

Unless the babies' names were on the invitations. In that case, there should be some sort of favor for them.

I don't think it would be expected, but always appreciated (assuming the gift for baby was age appropriate). I can't remember any parties where smaller babies came. I know at one of my son's parties, we had several invited siblings that were around 1. I got all the babies rubber duckies, so they wouldn't go home empty handed.

I agree. If the baby was not technically the one invited and just tagging along with mom, I see no reason to expect it. How could they even know the baby was coming?

I suppose if the baby were an invited guest, and all of the invited guests were receiving party favours, the you should give the baby one too (something age appropriate, of course). Otherwise party favours are only for the invited guests.
