Hi everyone,

If you let your child use the computer to play for an hour, what educational online preschool computer games do you use? I like "starfall.com" and Nick Jr, but are there any other ones that are appropriate?

Thanks in advance!

F.

Fisher-Price.com has a lot of games for infants, toddler, and preschoolers. My son really likes them. A lot of the games only require the kids to press a key (any key) in order to progress the game.

Have fun!

I just discovered a website that is great for kids from preschool to the 7th grade. It can be used as supplement to public or private school or it can be used for homeschooling purposes. They start with Language and Math + fun games and then add the science and social studies later. Each child can progress at their own pace and if they run out of work to do, then we can email and ask for the next level of material to be added.

There are several things I love about this site. They have the lesson time and playground games in 2 different areas. They have to do their lessons before they can go to the playground. The parent chooses how long they must do the lessons before they can play and then we decide how long they may play before they are blocked from games until they work again.

Another thing I like about the site is that the playground is full of direct links to all sorts of sites that are good and starfall is included as well as other appropriate sites. The whole thing is 20 per month for the first student and 15 per month for each student after. Right now I have my 2nd grader and one of my preschool age children on the program. I'll have 2 preschool age children on it in a couple of weeks. The really young 2 year olds like to watch as well.

The website is called www.time4learning.com

I haven't found too many good free ones online. However when I taught preschool we used reader Rabbit. It's great and has different age groups and subjects.I recently got it for my four year old who has never been in public day care and she loves it.I thought she would have trouble doing it but she didn't.We got a set at Marshall's that had four different disks.Reader Rabbit,Blue's Clue's,Dora, and Arthur.I think it was only $8.00.I have also seen them at Target and Sam's Club.Another thing you could try is searching Yahoo.Just type in exactly wha you want.EX:Preschool games,Preschool learning programs,Free preschool games online,Etc...

Hi! I know it's been a long time since you posted your question, as I'm sure your little girl is probably around age 6 by now. I have a son who is 6 yrs. old and I thought I'd list some of the online games that he enjoys - some fun and some educational :) Some of these he has never played before but I have saved them to my "favorites" for future visits. There are a lot that I'm listing. So, I hope at least a few of these will be new ones to you - that you and your daughter will enjoy together :)

Hi F.,

Have you tried getting a Webkinz? They have all sort of great games and I think they are the best on the net, 4 years old might be a little on the younger side...but she can start and I bet she'll lover it!

Good luck!

My son is 6.5 and he's always done NickJr.com PBSkids.com Disneyplayhouse.com Discoverykids.com and also AOLkids. We use AOL as one of our Internet providers, and the kids part is great, it sends you and email to let you know what sites they've been on, who's sent them Email, who they've sent emails to, who they've talked to on IM etc...
