Hi Moms,
My husband and I have been searching and searching for a new church. We have attended several ones in the religions that we were both raised and we just haven't found one that we can call home.

I realize that everyone is different, but do you attend a non-denominational church that you love? We are in Beverly and looking for something nearby. It doesn't have to be Beverly, but sort of close (within a 15-20 minute drive or so). We are willing to try lots (well, not LOTS), but we know it may take some time to find something that we both like and feel comfortable with.

If you are responding, tell me why you love (or just like) the church that you attend and how long you've been going there. :-)

Thanks,
B.

I attend Walk of Faith Church of God in Chirst. It is located at 7906 south Ingleside. Today I received a call from my pastor and he told me God told me to smile. I love that my church is a family and so concerned about my well being. I always feel like I belong.

Hi B.,
Hello, its Holly again :) I emailed you last week about shaklee corp. I am still looking at the website and gathering info. I live in Beverly as well, how bout that?
Have you tried the castle on 103rd and Longwood? I'm not sure what the schedule is like nowadays, but I used to take my daughter there while I was a single mom. I was pleased and intrigued by their service, it was both uniting and refreshing. They played the Beatles during one of the homilys which I loved especially. There was a lot of focus on humanity and reaching out to people. This was about 6 years ago. I stopped going when I got remarried and my now husband was born/raised Irish Catholic in Beverly, so I didn't even try to attempt stearing him in any other direction. We now go to St. Cajetan, which, for a Catholic church, I love, and I'd thought I'd never say that. I think it has a lot to do with father Frank and his sincerety. I haven't been to the castle in a few years, but enjoyed it when i went. I will contact you soon about Shaklee, I have a 9 yr old home sick today w/ a high fever!

Hi B.! I will start out by telling you a bit about my and my husband's religious "upbringings." He was raised Catholic and I was raised in a Baptist church. It was a given that I was the one to "convert" to the Catholic church. I tried my hardest to understand the ways and beliefs, but something just wouldn't give. The very last time we attended our local parish, my seat happened to be behind a pillar...and I literally got as much out of the mass that I did when I sat front and center! Anyhow, we started going to a non-denominational Bible church a few blocks from our home. Without preaching to you, it's simply what it says it is: the beliefs are taken right out of the Bible. It's a perfect median between our different backgrounds. The pastor is a down-to-earth guy with a family of his own. (When we started going there, my husband made the comment that he could "listen to him preach all day long.") It's in Oak Lawn, and it's called Oak Lawn Bible Church. The website is www.oaklawnbible.org. Good luck in your church search - we know what a task it can be!
