Lay it outside and COVER it with baking soda. Let it sit for a day- dust/vacuum it up and spray with vinegar. This worked with my dd when she had an accident. It didn't even leave a stain.
Help! My son had a friend sleep over last night and his friend wet the bed! My kids never had a bed wetting problem so I do not know how to get the mattress clean. I don't have a steam cleaner. Does anyone have any tips on cleaning urine out of a matress?? Thanks in advance!!

You can either rent or hire a someone to steam clean it. It would be the best way to clean the entire matress and get it cleaned deeply. Accidents happen and the matress can be cleaned. :)
I haven't cleaned a mattress, but for pet stains on the carpet, I pour salt on it while it is still wet. The salt will soak up all the moisture. Leave it until it dries and then vacuum up. I then treat the stain with Bac Out which is made by Bio Kleen. It works very well on pet stains. I buy it at Kroger in their Organic section. It is made of the enzymes used to for pet stains and lime juice.
I use the Fabreeze anti-bacterial on the mattress. If you do a good soaking of it in the morning and then soak up what you can with a towel, by evening it is dry and ready for clean sheets. It works pretty well and doesn't have a urine smell afterward...
Trust me. I have done it a few 100 times.
"kids and pets" available at walmart...it's in a white water-bottle pop-top container...it worked on a brand new custom sofa that got peed on RIGHT after i purchased it. i had to soak it a few times and allow to air dry...but eventually the urine smell and stain disappeared. follow directions on the bottle.
I would soak up as much as possible by applying pressure with a towel. Dampen it in the center if the pee is already dry, but not too much water, as you don't want to spread it. There is a enzyme product called Bac-Out (I get it from Whole Foods) Pour or spray it on the area really well, can cover it with a towel. Keep the room warm, as the enzymes will work better. Leave it set for a day, and remove the towel to let it dry completely. It works amazingly well on dog pee. I have a keen sense of smell, and the areas I have treated have no odor left behind. You can buy a waterproof mattress pad cover to keep this from happening again. If you get one that's padded, it won't sound krinkly at all...about 35.00.
Spot shot to clean what you see and spray heavily with lysol and let dry. The smell should go away.
It may be too late for this, but a couple years ago, we had a similar problem. My sister-in-law used to work at a vet's office and she said they used to tell people to pour salt(very heavily) on the accident area and just wait and the salt would soak up the moisture. I dont know that it got everything up, but it certainly got quite a bit. Then you just vacuum up the salt when you're done.
honestly, nothing will get it completely out. i would buy a new mattress
I had this problem and posted a question about this awhile back...here's what I used. Go to www.bedwettingstore.com. Get the Urine-Erase Stain and Odor Remover - 16 Ounce. After that I bought covers for all the beds.

bac-out or similar enzymatic cleaner, then if weather permits, lots of time in the sun.
I used to work for a bedding retailer and we suggested people to call stanely steamer. You could also put a good mattress pad on it. Unfortunately urine voids your mattress warranty. If you had stain protection put on it when you bought it contact the retailer immediately.
Go to Petsmart or Petco and get the enzyme stuff (Nature's miracle or something simular). Soak the area that has been soiled with the solution (have to soak it to get to all the places the urine got to). Let it dry (may take a day or so depending on humidity) and the smell will go away!!
Sorry to say, but I believe this is a lesson learned the hard way. Based on my experience, the mattress is forever stained (and stinky!). Fortunately, ordinary mattresses are not expensive to replace. And now, this time, you'll know to purchase a slip-cover. We purchased allergy covers for all our mattresses, which double as moisture barriers. They are foam-fabric material, and are silent (unlike plastic). We got ours at Bed-Bath.
DON'T spray those chemicals on your mattress. They don't work, and they can be harmful to those who sleep on the bed. I would spray some vinegar (straight) in the area and then pour a lot of baking soda. You'll have to wait until probably tomorrow night or maybe even a little later for it to dry, and then just vacuum it up. We've had to do that with a few pillows where my son had accidents and he was curled up at his pillow. It takes the odor and stain out as well as disinfect, and it's safe. That's all we use for cleaning and carpet stains now. Good luck
I have poured borax all over wet spot, let it dry it out. It will soak up urine and get rid of smell. Then I just vacuum mattress repeatedly. I hope this helps.
vinegar and water will help eliminate the urine odor
