Need Help with Baby Shower Venue

I have two wonderful friends who want to throw me a baby shower but for various reasons can't host it in their homes. I have considered having it in my apartment which is small (and now crowded with baby stuff) but wanted to check out some other options before agreeing to that. It will be 12 people or fewer on the 2nd weekend in May. Does anyone know of a baby shower friendly restaurant or outdoor space in the city? I don't plan on having games & all that just a nice meal at a place we can linger a little. Your advice is very much appreciated.

What can I do next?

Very friendly and cozy atmosphere, has an upstairs that can accomodate your 12 and more as a sit down dinner or lunch. Excellent italian food. I had a dinner for the same amount
of people for my daughters 16th b-day. Check it out and see if it works for you, give them a call.

Hi W.,

There is this great little restaurant in the city where I held both a bridal shower and a baby shower for 20 people and less for my best friend. Food was delicious and in the spring/summer they have a great outdoor place.

Here is the link.

I did my own decorations...

There is also a restaurant in the Bronx that has a great weekend brunch menu and accomodates small and large parties. Its not too far from Riverdale. We just celebrated my girlfriends 40th birthday with a group of 14.
Here is that link for Tosca's Cafe.

Congratulations on your baby girl! My little one is 11 months old.

I just went to one last week in a resterant. We were all comfortable. Not too hot or cold. Dry and comfortable. I would just call around and see what resteraunts you like and see if they are willing to do it. It was great for me to do the photos at too. The lighting stayed the same and I got pictures of everything she opened. I then made a CD and slide show wish she just loved. I photoshoped on or two candid shots that showed her mother and herself with half closed eyes. I fuzzed out the areas around their faces and they were a real crack up. You have to have the right kind of family and friends to do this though. Congrats!!!

Hi W.. My name is Valencia and I am an event coordinator. I specialize in baby showers, weddings, sweet 16's, birthday parties, corporate events, etc. I reside in New Jersey but I conduct a lot of my events in the city. Within the last 3 months, I've done about 6 baby showers. Some various venues that I have used are: party rooms at restaurants, churches, a cafe; loft spaces, and client's homes. You can have one of your friends email me (____@____.com) if you'd like. You should not worry about a location or games or anything else affiliated with your shower. Your only duty is to register at your favorite baby stores.

Hi W.!! Congratulations to you!! I had my baby shower last summer in a public park, and it was really great!! I'm not familiar with a specific venue in the city, but I really loved having it outdoors (weather permitting, of course). It was also nice to not have anyone pay an outrageous amount for the actual location-it was simple with hors d'ouvres and cake! good luck and hope this was a bit of help!!

if you are willing to go to hoboken, there is a great little place called Trinity. I threw a bridal shower there and they have a great menu, great view (it's on the water) and they will move you to another area for opening gifts where there are couches/lounge area. It was perfect.
