This is not a camp, but it is a free thing to do. The movie theatre has a free movie every week for kids in the mornings. Check to see if there is one by your house.

We have lived near Durant Nature Park for 3 years and never knew it! I have no idea if it offers free classes, but it does do summer groups (even track out groups I think), it is nice, they do have fishing, camping, a swim area, shelters to rent, playgrounds. I was just shocked once we went there for a shower. It is right off of Durant and Capital. I am sure you could search Raleigh Parks and see what comes up too. Hope that helps.

The Boys and Girls Clubs has a summer program that costs a minimal amount. There are a few clubs around Wake County.

You are in the middle of "expensive camp land". Even the YMCA is crazy expensive. I'm like one of the other posters, I didn't know free summer camps existed, and if they do, this is not the place that they would exist! Half days run around $100 and up, full days are around $150 and up (and those are the bargain places). I have tried to understand this, but I just think the incomes in this area can and have supported these rates and they persist because they can. Good luck, please let us know if you find anything (even if it's just cheaper, not necessarily free). Thanks!
