Time to see the doc.
Tylenol and I uptown are not for coughs and there are no over the counter cold meds for kids of 3.
Soooo....

Doc.
Liquids.
Cool mist humidifier.
Saline drops for congestion
Vicks on the bottom of his feet, then socks at night
Prop head of his crib or bed on phone books to ease breathing/congestion

Please take him to the doctor. Tylenol and ibuprofen is not going to help a cough and runny nose. It could be something as harmless as allergies or as serious as whooping cough. So get to the doctor ASAP.

You are using pain medication for a cough and runny nose!!?? These meds will not help at all.

Talk to a local pharmicist and ask what he/she recommends.

This sounds like allergies or whooping cough, as A. E. suggested, I would take him to his Ped. My daughter coughs badly at night and her DR suggested she go on some sort of allergy meds...I give her Zyrtec around 7pm every night. Then again she is older, 3 yo is pretty young so I am not sure if there if there is a Zyrtec or Claritin for that young.

If it's bad enough to make him throw up, I'd take him to the doctor. It could be croup or whooping cough.

Make sure you let the doc office know so they can isolate him when you get there.

I am so sorry to hear that your son is not feeling well. You can call your doctor and see if they have any cough medicine for him, Ibuprofen and Tylenol are designed to bring down a fever, so they aren't going to do anything for a cough. You can also try warm tea with lemon and honey, there is a reason that this is a go to for parents. Also, run the shower and steam up the bathroom and run a humidifier in his room. If that doesn't work, bundle him up and bundle yourself up and sit outside, so that they can breath in the cold air, this should also help. If you have a phone, I would take a videotape of him coughing, at night and take that to the doctor. It helped my doctor diagnose my daughter's asthma.

he probably has bronchitis and should be seen right away by a doctor-even if you have to take him to the ER-Tylenol is a pain and fever reliever-not at all a substitute for an antibiotic or cough preparation.

I found that a humidifier helps. I also have held mydaughter in the bathroom while I run a hot shower to get it steamy.

I would take him to the doctor. THey may also have you get a nebulizer. We are currently using one with my daughter as her "cold" turned out to be RSV :(

He needs to see a doctor right away!!
FYI... Tylenol and Motrin/Advil (ibuprofen) are pain relievers and fever reducers and will do nothing for a cough.

Get him to the doctor. My guy will be 4 in a couple of months and the middle of November he had a cough and runny nose for a week I treated and it didn't get better. I took him in and found he had asthma, first time he'd been diagnosed. Turns out one of the things I'd given him asthmatics should never have :-/

Plus, Tylenol and Ibuprofen are only for fever and pain, they have no effect on a cough or runny nose. Throwing up from the cough isn't good, so get him to the doctor.
