My son won't eat veggies. He has gotten so picky. When I make him try veggies he gags and then throws up everything he just ate. Do I keep forcing him to try and have hime throw up every night? Is this out of his control?

What can I do next?

When I was a kid I never ate my vegetables so my mom came up with a great idea, she would make me fruit shakes and blend vegetables in with it. Also, my son won't eat carrots but when we grate them and put them in his tuna fish he eats them all up. So, disguise them by mashing them up and putting them in foods that he likes.

My son is the same way. i make sure he eats fruits to get his fruits and veggies in. I also puree veggies into his potatoes, pasta sauce, even ketchup and mac and cheese and he never notices. Make the veggie color match the food color so it blends in. It's the only way I can get him to eat them. Right now he's only three. But when he's older I'll expect him to eat them on his own.

Have u tried hiding them in other things?? Zucchini is so easy to hide & so are peas. If you make meatballs or meatloaf shred the zucchini & put it in. Hope that works for you.

HI B.-
Try to get him involved with picking out vegetables in the grocery store. Or even better, have him help you plant a vegetable(s) and have him water it and help take care of it.He maybe more app. to eat them. My kids turn their noses up at some vegetables but I never force them to eat them. Instead I continue to offer them veggies and encourage them to eat them by explaining how good they are for their growing bodies.I lead by example too by eating a lot of fruits and vegetables in front of them.Continue to give him a daily vitamin so he doesn't miss out on essential vitamins and eventually (hopefully) his palette will begin to expand. hope this helps, M.

I'm sorry to hear about this. I know Gerber Graduates has these puff treats with veggie pieces in them. Maybe if they don't look like a veggie, he won't know. These puffs actually look like Cheese Curls or Cheese Doodles. Good luck with everything.

I gave up on trying to force my son to eat veggies. What I do know is when I serve pasta with red sauce, I cut the veggies so fine that he doesn't know that they are in there. I also buy that juice that is 100% juice and 100% vegetable juice. I have found that my son on occassion will eat salad and string beans, but I can not give that to him everyday because then he will not eat them.

Hello I have a similiar problem that my son won't even give most veggies a try. I tried juicing some apples, carrots and other veggies and freezing them in ice cube trays. I add them to his cup with water in the morning and let it dissolve. It's been working to get a little in him. But I guess we just have to keep trying to offer them at mealtime. I learned that putting the same shape/color foods on his plate at mealtime is also a good idea.

My son is the same way. We now give him V-8 Fusion juice. It's actually fruit juice that is made with both fruits and veggies. Don't get the light it isn't 100% juice. And we cut it with water. An 8 oz cut is suppose to be equal to a serving of fruits and veggies and of course that is an adult serving. He gets his "special" juice after his nap. I know Juicy Juice just came out with something similar.

My daughter used to love veggies once I started giving her REAL veggies (not baby food). You didn't say how old your son is, so it all depends on his age. If he's still on the mashed veggies, try giving him very soft cut up veggies. If he's already eating them cut up, or whole, depending on his age...try to mix them in something. Sometimes, now that she's becoming picky, I give her the gerber rice and veggie soup mixes. Sometimes I mix it with other food, in mashed potatoes and gravy, covered in melted cheese. It seems that the more she can't taste them, the more she'll eat them. I think it's because when I make them for her I don't add butter, or salt to them. I only say this because when my husband makes it, he adds alot of salt and pepper, and heats them in butter and she LOVES them... Just try to season them with something, and if he likes cheese, that's the best thing. Everyone keeps telling me that cheese is important in her diet, so I'm assuming that to add some melted cheese to veggies is probably one of the better and easier ways to "trick" them into eating healthy. Good luck.

Don't worry about it! My son is 2 1/2 and I don't think he's eaten any veggies since he's been off of baby food jars!!!
Just keep trying. One of these days they'll eat them again.
