My 3 Month Old Son Has Eczema

Hello. My son has had red rashes on his face ever since 3 week old. He has a good day and bad day. When it's bad day, I apply Hydrocortisone 1% since his doctor recommended to use one and temporary heals his rashes. I personally did not want to use the Hydrocortisone, so tried calendula cream from California baby to get rid of rashes and Aquaphor for moistraizer. Moisterizing part works, but does not get rid of the rashes.

Worse now, he itches his face constantly. It's really hard for me to look my son itches his face constantly. He itches his face even though he does not have any rashes on his face. Itching himself creates rashes as a result.

I've started getting rid of cow milk and peanut from my own diet since I breastfeed him exclusively.

I spend great amount of time and energy to stop him from itching. I desperately need any suggestion what I can do to improve his condition.

Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

Probiotics and not using soap worked for us. I also used aquaphor to treat it...and hydrocortisone only when it got really bad. He is two and now only gets it when he uses bubble bath.

Hi, I am from Lafayette too! My daughter had bad cradle cap, and my youngest has eczema on his legs. I use an all natural product (that I actually sell) and I swear by it! I, too don't want to use drugs and chemicals on babies. Have you heard of Arbonne? I don't want to sound like a sales person at all, I am just a Mom who truly believes in this product and you don't feel bad putting it on your baby. We have a very gentle wash, lotion and oil that are amazing. We also have a 45 day return policy, so you can try it out and if it doesn't work out, just send it right back. Please let me know what you think. I really think you will love it. Please e-mail me back at ____@____.com. I can get you samples too.

My now 11 month old has had terrible excema, here are some things that have worked for us:

I spoke to several doctors and a homeopath, none of them recommended taking anything out of my diet while breastfeeding. They said the length of time it would take to possibly get any conclusive result would not be worth it in comparison to the nutrient we were both getting from my diet. If it was a severe food allergy, there would probably be blood in the diaper.

Mitten cuff sleeves all the time, day and night.

100% cotton clothing, turned inside out if the seams seem irritating.

All-natural, residue free, enzyme free detergent (I use Mountain Green Baby) or olive oil soap grated and dissolved in water and used as laundry soap.

Cetaphil Cleanser instead of soap. No soap.
Cetaphil, Eurcerin, and Aquaphor - several times a day, thick layers.

Either long stretches with no bathing or long luke-warm baths every day. Oatmeal baths, Aveeno makes one.

Hydroxazine (rx) for itching relief, get it from your pediatrician.

Minimal use of steriods, like cortisone.

It's very difficult to deal with.
