Hi C. first i will start by saying HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, then now i will tell you a little about myself i'm a mom and grandma i'm 55yrs old i have 4 kids my youngest is 20yrs old i once upon time thought that moving from New York was the best thing to do,lucky i didn't make the move the only thing i did was change borough from Manhattan to Staten Island thats it my feelings were changed when my brother went to live in Warick New York and buy a house he regrets it one everything is far the people feel you shouldn't be there My daughter moved to PA. with her 2 children and 1 on the way she just got the taste of the place when 1 of her neighbors kids hit my grandaughter across her face she is 11yrs old, That never happened here. The main thing of raising up children in New york is keeping track of their friends even though they might not like it due to the fact once bad friends come into the picture they will have more authority over them then you as a parent Second don't show fear! you are the parent and they are the child no matter what age they may be. I never touch my kids but they have greatest respect for me and i never have lived in good neighborhoods. In fact i can call it the Ghetto but this doesn't mean you must act like them or associate yourself with them. I didn't actually get the ages of your boys but always tell them to be leaders not followers. I hope this helps you in anyway. Keep me posted

C.,
What do you do? Would you need to commute to NYC to work? Do you drive? I live in SI and I love it. But if you don't drive it can be hard to get around. MOST of the schools here are good. I wish you the best. It can't be easy with 4 boys. GOOD LUCK! Keep us posted!

hello I can understand why you might want to move have you thought where you want to go.
I guess the first thing is to choose where you want to go look for the rating on school the standard of leaving and specially to be able to find work.
I personally will be moving to Orlando,Florida this summer and the reason why My husband and I choose this city was because my son adjusted so well the many times we had visited specially since he is a special child.
I can also say that is a city full of work and many activities for the kids.
I hope you are able to make a decision. Many people have left to the south like Atlanta, Virginia, among others. I guess New York City is not the same life is too expensive here, where as in other places is a bit less yes sure the salaries are less but everything is related.
We as parents have to think on our childs future what's best for them.
good luck

Hi C. I also would like to move from New York, I live in the Bronx and things have gotten real bad in my neighborhood. I had to send My 8 year old to Pennsylvania to live with his aunt, because he was not meeting reading standards in the school he went to. Now my son is reading chapter books and is doing great. I hear that pennsylvania has a low cost of living and is a safe place to raise children. I'm hopong to move to PA by next fall. You should try and look into it.
