My family is moving to the Memphis, Tennessee area at the end of June. The problem is I am having a hard time finding a great neighborhood/school district for our 3 young children. If any of you have recommendations or advice, I would love to hear them. We would also consider DeSoto county in Mississippi. Please anything you have is greatly appreciated. Time is ticking and we need to find an AWESOME, FRIENDLY, SAFE neighorhood♥

All of Desoto County Schools are good. The east side of Southaven and the west side of Olive Branch seem to offer the best overall experience for parents and students alike. They have fewer kids per class and zero tolerance for nonesense.

I moved from Detroit, MI to Desoto county Mississippi in 2005 and did some research on the school systems in both Memphis, TN and north Mississippi. Hands down, Mississippi proved to be a better place for me.

Hi L.,

We moved here from southern IL at the end of 2005. We live in Olive Branch, MS. Other than the fact that I miss my family and friends we really like it here. There are several different OB school districts so I can only comment on the one that we are in and so far it has been pretty good. My son struggles but people tell me that is because he is a boy (I think he was lost in the shuffle when we moved and decided to stop learning). But my daughter has started in this district and she is doing very well. The schools in my district are Olive branch elementary, Chickasaw Elementary, OB Intermediate, OB Middle and then the High school. It sounds overwhelming but it is not. The housing prices are probably right up your alley too....homes are selling below market here.

If you need or want anymore info please let me know.

Thanks,
Jen

Right now we live in Cordova and send our kids to private school. However, we are looking into moving out to Collierville soon. It has great schools all the way up through high school and is very safe. It's close enough to Memphis, but out of the way with everything that you need. The town and neighborhoods have all kinds of rules and codes to keep everything clean and crime out. There are tons of neighborhood parks too. I know several families that live there and they would not move anywhere else.

if you are looking for a great public school, try looking in the Richland Elementary district near Walnut Grove and White Station. lots of affordable housing and the school goes K-5. White Station Middle School is right next to Richland and is also a good school.

We live in the city of Bartlett with an Arlington address (just minutes away from the Memphis line). We just moved to this area a little over a year ago. We LOVE our neighborhood and the Bon Lin elementary and middle schools (we have three kids as well). We are just minutes from everything but yet we feel that our neighborhood is far enough away from "busyness". You are welcome to contact me for more information at ____@____.com.
