My husband and I are trying to think of "memorable" Christmas gifts to give our 6 year old son....... He has a trillion toys and doesn't "need" anything. He got an ipad for his birthday, that he's obsessed with playing. So since the ipad came, he could care less about his toys. He tries to say that he wants MORE legos, but he plays with them for a week, they break, and there goes 50ish dollars down the drain...
My son is an ADRENALINE JUNKIE!!!!! We just took him hang gliding a few weeks ago and he LOVED it! We never thought he was going to be big enough, but he was able to go.... We are trying to think of more presents like that, rather then just moreeeee toysssss.... Suggestions pleaseeeeee....( if he was tall enough to go skydiving, he would. He gets this from his father, lol)
-We thought about swimming with dolphins but he's not tall enough (has to be 52' and he's only 47)
-last year for Christmas break, we took him to Sea World and Lego land. So that's already been done.
- He LOVES animals!
What about overnight camp? I went to camp for 28 days when I was 7 and LOVED it. Depending on the type of camp, it could be come a "thing" for him:)
other thoughts are season passes to things he likes to do (zoo, children's museum, etc.)
I am with you about experiences vs things.
If you need some suggestions for summer camps - start with the American Camp Association listing of what to look for and a list of accredited camps.
What about rock climbing lessons? Martial arts lessons? He might enjoy something that gives him exercise.
Definitely find an experience or adventure that he could do. Is he big enough for parasailing or ziplining? Waterskiing? Snowboarding or snow skiing?
You could also get him tickets to a professional sporting event, like a Dolphins football game.
How about a tour or an amazing animal sanctuary?
Like Christy J said, camp. My boys and I went to YMCA camp this past summer for a week and there was zip lining, a 50 ft ropes course, a 40 ft climbing wall, a bouldering wall, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and sailing.
A new bike or scooter. Since he is becoming sedentary with the ipad get him something to use so he is active.
Zoo membership, overnight at your local zoo or museum (if they offer it). Our museum does a 'breakfast with dinosaurs' as well as an overnight in the museum.
