Last week someone posted about making your own laundry detergent, and I was fascinated! I ended up buying the ingredients, and will be making my own this weekend. I'm so excited!

Now I'm pondering making my own cleaning supplies. I've found some information online, but wanted to know if any of you do this, and if so, how do you do it, and are you pleased with the products?

Thanks for the input!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks! I have a huge container of vinegar, so I guess I just need a spray bottle. :)

Love vinegar!!! Kids don't love the smell so I add essential oils and once I even put orange peel in the bottle and after a day or two it smelled really good. Ya know that Greek movie years ago where the man puts Windex on everything. That's me with vinegar! Good luck and have fun!

This is what I use for laundry soap now. I loved the original one I used to use, but this is by far the best I have come across. Plus it smells nice and the clothes are soft. Gotta say it surprised me and got dried on blood out of a shirt that I forgot about.

As for everything else, vinegar and water and sometimes bleach when needed. Dish soaps...suck in my opinion, and so did hand soap.

I'm making laundry detergent this weekend, too, based on that post. I switched to vinegar and baking soda last year and love it! To me, it works so much better than most cleaning supplies and it's obviously much less expensive. Those, combined with microfiber cloths, is almost all I use. I sometimes use lysol spray if something needs to be disinfected, but otherwise, just vinegar.

ETA: I have one spray bottle that's 50/50 water and vinegar and one that's straight vinegar. We also made window cleaner that had vinegar, water and ammonia -- there are lots of recipes on line.

Vinegar is unreal. It smells, but only for a short time. And it cuts through ANYTHING!

I mix 1/2 cup vinegar, 1tbsp dish soap in a spray bottle with water. I use it to clean everything.

I don't "make" my cleaning supplies, I just use them.

Vinegar goes a long way.

another vote for vinegar! I do add some oil and dish soap to one of my bottles for cleaning wood, but I love just using vinegar and water.

I use vinegar and water plus a dash of tea tree oil to disinfect. Plain vinegar and water (no oil) to clean everything else. And 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 Dawn dish soap in a scrubby sponge with a handle to clean my showers and bathtubs! That was a great trick that saves me time and money. I just quickly scrub the shower doors and walls down when I'm IN the shower with the scrubby sponge.

I've been using my own homemade laundry detergent for years. I tried the homemade dishwasher soap but it left spots because I don't have a spot for Jet Dry in my dishwasher.

I made my own liquid hand soap from a bar of Kirk's Castile and some distilled water. Not only is it cheaper than regular liquid hand soap but it has so few ingredients!

I save a ton of money!

(You can also use the Borax for ant killer as well! I use it in the spring and summer when we get ants.)

My all purpose cleaner is - 1/3 cup rubbing alcohol, 2 squirts of dish soap, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/3 cup fragrance. The rest I fill with water. Works great on counter tops, windows, and mirrors!

Floor cleaner, I use a O cedar mop that you can use your own cleaner. In bottle, I mix 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, and the rest is water.

It is so much cheaper and it cleans so well! I have not tried making my own laundry detergent tho.

I do not make my own cleaning products.. I LOVE clorox and Pine Sol however, I swear by Vinegar.

I will only use vinegar for windows, mirrors, glass, etc. Works great in the shower and on grout.

Spray some on the grout lines, scrub a little with a grout brush and WOW, it is better!
