hi moms! well, i weigh about 20 pounds more than i did before i got pregnant. this is actually a good thing, because i have always been underweight. the only thing is, i want to lose that pooch of fatty skin around my middle that decided to come live on me after my daughter was born. i just dont like it. every time i sit down it hangs over my pants. and when i bend over it kind of hangs down. or if im laying in bed on my side and i look down at my stomach, i see that gravity is taking its toll, and my stomach is reaching down for the ground (lol). how do you get rid of that extra fatty, saggy skin around your middle? ive tried exercise and eating healthy (and less). but im stuck with this pooch. HELP!

I lost 40lbs in 6 weeks using double doses of a multivitamin called Seasilver. Exercise will help firm up the skin and the muscles under the skin.

Good luck!

I have heard that wrapping an ACE bandage around it at all times, helps it contract back to normal... Also, suck it in as much as possible. This helps tone the muscles that are probably no longer there.

:)

Good luck!

Go buy this book and try the exercises. "Lose Your Mummy Tummy" by Julie Tupler and Jodie Gould. My tummy is still a little loose and saggy (but getting better all the time) and my sister looks like she never even had two kids.

I was able to loose it all with my first baby when I got onto the LA weight loss program 7 years after her birth, I lost 35lbs and it went with it. I just had my 2nd baby 3 months ago, and I am once again on the program, losing weight is slower this time around and I have a feeling I'll always have a little bit of the pouch left just from the 2nd pergnancy. I don't like excersising, but the program works for me without that.

Hi there,
I also have the baby pooch. I am a mother of 5 kids total and have never really lost the pooch. I am back to my regular weight again and doing some running and sit ups. I also stick to a strict diet being that I am a Diabetic also. I eat 6 small meals a day and I dont eat after 7pm. Doing this has helped me get my weight down. As for the toning part I am still working on it. The other thing too is did you have a c-section??? My last son was an emergency c-section and from what I have heard it is hard to lose the belly part. He just turned 3 and im still working on it. Like the others have said it is a process and it wont happen over night, I have given me a 6mos - 1 year goal. Since starting this in March of this year, I have lost my weight and now Im working on my toning. I would set a sensible goal timeline and try and stick to it. It'll make you feel a lot better. It did for me. I dont feel like I have to rush and Im not dissappointed cause I didnt tone my body in 2 weeks....lol...

Hi R.,
I'm right there with you!! I have an 8 month old and still have 15-20 extra lbs, and the pooch. I HATE it!! I've been doing weights and sit ups with lots of cardio, and it is finally going down, but I still have a way to go. I think there's a lot to be said about the extra skin. I don't think it will ever be the same again.
Try doing core exercises. It's hard, but you'll see and feel the difference.
Good luck!

I have heard that hoola-hooping with a weighted hoop is real good for that. Even an unweighted one is supposed to take off inches if you do it every day. The first few times you use the weighted one, however, expect some bruising around the middle. I have yet to try it for myself (I really need to), but I've heard about it in Weight Watchers. In between babies, I was very thin, like 106 lbs or so, which was so wonderful. Even when I was that thin, however, I could see the "pooch" when I was sitting. I think it never vanishes totally, but maybe we can minimize!

Good luck!

You are forgetting that your stomach expanded to the size of a watermelon, aren't you?

Fat deposits are one thing. Loose skin is something else. You can lose the fat, but your skin was stretched out pretty far. It recovers... and sometimes even takes more than a year to do so... but it only snaps back so much. That varies with the woman. And that doesn't improve with age or successive pregnancies (personal experience, of course). If there was really a way to just "fix it" and put it *ALL* back the way it was (without expensive plastic surgery) don't you think every women would know it by now??

Sorry, just being realistic.

The "help me get back my pre-pregnancy body" industry is as booming as cold medicine. And there's no cure for colds either.

Anyways--weight loss/strength training will help if what you are truly dealing with is fat deposits. And in clothes, the appearance of you stomach will improve... it may even appear to be your pre-pregnancy body as long as you aren't baring your mid-drift. But you need to be realistic about gravity. Nobody has beat Newton yet, and even the surgeon's scalpel is a temporary fix. Plus, since you said you were underweight to begin with and actually LIKE the new padding... so you may have to consider buying a cute 1 piece bathing suit for this summer rather than a bikini.

I dont how much of a pouch you have, but what works for me and has with 3 kids, is sit ups, lots of sit ups, i have a little flab left but, the muscle that i use to have befor i had kids is still there, and the more i do sit ups, the better and tighter they look. Good Luck!

Hi! I would also love to know that secret! I have lost all the baby weight plus some. I weigh less now than before my nearly one year old was conceived. I am diabetic, too, and I think that's why. Because of the diabetes (gotten when I was pregnant and now permanently here to stay), I was forced to eat healthily and exercise. I am much healthier than ever before, but I still have that pooch in my tummy, too! I've been told to do thousands and thousands of sit ups to get rid of it. I haven't tried that yet and can't vouch for the accuracy of that advice. Good luck!

Lots and lots of cardio. Plus eating less does not mean healthy and it can hinder you losing the weight. Eat more smaller meals during the day and drink the water. If you can get to a gym do it, most of the gyms will have trainers that can help you for free for the first couple of sessions or just start walking more. They can show you the right way to exercise to tone up those trouble spots. My hubbie was 350 pounds, he has done this and is now down to 219 and he has a lot of excess skin and tummy. His trainer told him to up his cardio and believe it or not, all that skin and tummy is starting to go down. As for me, I still have my tummy and it has been 4 years but now I have buckled down and my tummy is starting to disappear. It just takes time and doesn't happen overnight. Good luck.

Personally I have lost 30 lbs since my pregnancy with my daughter and still have the Mommy pouch. In some sense it will always be there.
At one point after my son was born I had lost way too much weight due to not being able to eat. The Mommy pouch was still there.
I have heard of one exercise I did try when you take a deep breathe out, continue to pull the stomach in. Hold it and breath normally while still holding in for about a minute then release. I have done this and still have the pouch.
I honestly don't know of any Mom that doesn't at least have a small pouch, unless they have had surgery..

Hi girl,

I know what you mean, but the thing is there is no secret about it on how to lose the weight. You just have to eat right and excercise. Especially toning up (like lifting free weights). There is no pill or drink that will make it go away. But plain old excercise. I recommend that you read up to learn more if you do not have a clue what I am talking about, because I sure didn't:) There is this magazine called Robert Kennedy's OXYGEN Magazine. It will give you great tips, and you will learn how to go to the gym feeling confident on what you are doing there. If you can afford a personal trainer than better.

I hope this helps.
