Old Navy & The Gap offer bottoms in 3 sizes--slim, regular & husky. Most of them also come with adjustable waists.

Hi R.,
My husband is ALSO 6'7 and weighs 320. My daughter is 2 1/2 and is always mistaken for much older. She's still in diapers and people make comments b/c they think she's older. She is over 3 feet now and weighs about 38 lbs. If you find out anything, please let me know. I can't find pants that fit her right-always long or too short! I can totally relate-good luck!

Hi R.,

I'm sure you have gotten plenty of suggestions, but just in case no one mentioned it...JC Penney's. They have a specific section in the girls' department for you. You will find some really cute clothes for her at affordable prices.

Good luck

My daughter too is very tall and bigger boned than most of the other little girls her age and has been since she was born. She is not overweight and is very active, in dance and karate. She goes through these huge growth spurts sometimes and clothing that I bought only a couple of months before will suddenly be way to small so I am constantly on the look out for things that will last longer. Lots of pants have the adjustable waistbands but the length can be a problem sometimes so I was really happy when I went into the Children's Place the other day. They have a pair of pants that have an elastic waistband and they have buttons and straps so you can shorten them to get the capri look. I bought ones that once rolled up fit her like pants now so that when she grows they can be rolled down and used some more. They are perfect! I got the denim ones and am going to go back since they also have pink, green, brown, and a cream color. The Children's Place is great because they have cute little girl styles in size 10/12. I also find that certain styles of dresses work great as longer tops when they get to that too short to wear as a dress anymore stage. Sometimes I will also look for basics in nuetral colors in the little boys department because their sizing is a little bigger.

My oldest daughter was the same. It was a nightmare to buy clothes. Thats what I did I bought capris or had pants shortened. My daughter is now 11 and has slimmed out and finally can fit into normal clothes.

I did find a lot at Macy's. Sweat outfits that i just had heamed.

having to buy a 10/12 for a 4 1/2 yr old is not right. If you haven't already - i would take her into her dr office to make sure she is growing on trtack. 76 is a very high weight - as my 7 1/2 yr old daughter was "scolded" by her Dr for being 78lbs in march. Also - by 4.4 do you mean 4 ft 4 inches? or nearly 4 and a half feet?

As for clothing - i know the children's place has more "cute" clothing then other places. You may need to get some items hemmed (esp pants)

I have spoken to so many mothers with this problem in finding clothes for stocky, tall children, (also with children who are very thin, chubby or very short) In October 07 a website will be launching that sells clothes in three children clothing or body type sizes. Chubbies/Stockies/Skinnies all made especially with that body type in mind. The clothes are still in the process of being designed specifically for those body types with special attention to the comfort of the children and convenience of the parent. The website will open shortly for any parent willing to give their unique perspective about how each piece of clothing should fit the specific body type based on parents experience with clothing their likes and dislikes or suggestions. Since I don't know what the URL will be yet I will just add you to my files on Mamasource and let you know as soon as it does. The pants I've heard about all have comfortable adjustable waist bands and pantcuffs that accommodates all heights but are still ascetically pleasing. I have heard great things about this clothing, its organic materials and just sounds great to any mother whose had to put a 5T on a three year old or 9-12m old pants on a 24 month old. Write me back and let me know what you think. The lady that is doing this has two children and is open to any suggestions. Also for anyone not believing about different "body types" there is scientific research that shows that these three body types arise at around six months of age and completely suggest the body type the child will have as an adult. http://bodybuildingpro.com/bodytypeinformation.html
This is just one website describing the three.

Try the Land's End catalog, they have slim, average and plus sizes and they trim pants to the lenght you ask them, most of the times already included in the price.

One of my girls had the same problem and Land's End was the only place I could find clothes to fit her.

Good luck!

I have this very same problem. My daughter, Kristina, is currently 9, yet she wears a 7 1/2 womens shoe. She is always the youngest in her class (DOB 8/30), but she is always the tallest in her class. I'm fortunate that my mother taught me to sew when I was very young. When Kristina was younger, my mother or I made a lot of her clothes. I have sold some on ebay and have bought some on ebay. I usually could not find suitable clothing for her at places like Wal-Mart or K-Mart but did find cute things at Target (plus sizes) but still end up hemming. Capris were a rarity for her. Now that she's older, I find her clothes in Jrs because she's so tall ... but it's still a challenge.
