Decorations...use baby clothes. If it is a boy you can get little button up shirts, starch them and put a vase of flowers inside them...my mom did it for me and it was adorable!! As for the games, we only did 2 games. First, guess the celebrity baby/or pregnant women (black on the face or the eyes to make it difficult) and we did a baby pool (birthdate, time, weight, length) and the winner got a giftcard mailed to them. Have fun!!

Hi there, for my baby shower, I had all the guests bring in a baby photo of themselves and we posted them on a big piece of foam core. Each guest had to guess who was who. It was a lot of fun!

I just had a baby shower in September and it was so fun. Some of the games were build a baby. Everyone builds a baby out of playdough, or gum or whatever, and the mom to be is out of the room. When she comes back in she picks her favorite. I, of course, picked my mother in laws. I love the babies she makes!
Another one was a drawing. On the invitation it said to bring diapers of any size/brand and they would be entered into a drawing for a prize. The only time we have had to buy diapers is when we have been out of town. He's 6 months old.
Oh, and another one was different melted candy bars inside diapers. You smell them but you can't taste them and whoever guesses the most wins. They look like...well, you can guess. Fun though.

my sister recently had a baby & at her shower they had a scrap book. Everyone filled out a little piece of paper. One in the shape of a hand & one a foot.. Each guest had to write out a little note on a foot & a hand & put your name. The hand was for a helping hand tip & the foot was for helpful real life advice/wisdom. I would take it a step further and put a photo of the of the guest that wrote the note on the same page or put their greeting card from the present on the same page. It was very nice and she loved it! What i also thought was a great idea was that one lady gave her a self indulgent splurge basket for her, not the baby. It was full of pampering bubble bath, lotions candles, etc. Just for the mom. I will do that at my next shower i attend. No one thinks of the mom! Have fun! C.k.

At my shower we played who is the pregnant celebrity mom? They printed pictures of celebrities with their baby bump from the internet and covered their faces. One of the pictures was me and my face was also covered. each guest wrote their answers down- and the person who got the most right won. Fun game!!

Here is a game I saw, granted I think all shower games are stupid, it was funny.

Golfing for the guys.

You will need a start line and finish line.
A pair of pantyhose for each participant
2 golf balls per participant

Line up your participants and wrap one pantyhose leg around the waist of the participant and tie it on the waist. Place one golf ball in the other leg, it dangles. Place the other golf ball at the start line. Give them the good ol' "On your mark, get set, go! and have them hit the golf ball on the floor with the ball in the stocking...no hands. The one to hit the finish line wins. It was hilarious to see the guys move & groove to move their balls.

I did a baby shower themed with daisies. I made cupcakes that had daisies on them. You take large marshmallows, flatten slightly and cut into thirds. The sticky sides dip in colored sugar crystals and place on the top of the frosted cupcakes, takes 5-6 pieces of the marshmallow and then I added a yellow m&m in the middles. I decorated everything with white daisies, little vases from the .99 cent store or dollar tree. She wanted pink and brown as her theme colors. We had a brunch, that was easy and good on the wallet. I made her handmade thank you cards to send out and had everyone fill out an envelope (so she could mail them the card). Also, scrapbooks are popular. 8 X 8 is a good size, everyone can write a little advice or thought on a card and make sure to take a picture of each person with her, then put them together on each page. That is a great gift!! Hope these help.

At both my showers for my son, they held a Diaper Raffle. Every if they wanted to participate brought a package of diapers, any size! And they received a raffle ticket and one ticket was then taped onto the diaper package.

So, you would need to purchase or print out the double roll of raffle tickets.

Then the hostess had a 1st - 3rd place prize. The 1st received a $20 gift card to Target.

who ever brings a pack of diapers (various sizes, as she will need them all!) entered into a drawing (gift card or inexpensive jewelry, something at least the value of a pack of diapers).

my sister had everyone decorate quilt squares (she brought stencils & fabric markers), and now I have a beautiful, very personal quilt from all my friends & family. If you don't want to go to the trouble of cutting the squares, maybe they can decorate scrap book pages for her.

baby bingo is an old classic. give everyone blank "bingo" sheets, they fill in what they think the mom will get and cross them off as the gifts are opened.

Take the labels off baby food jars and everyone has to guess what it is. Make sure you number the jars and labels so you know the correct answers. No tasting or smelling!

Famous moms & their kids match game (use celebrities or tv show families)

Can't say "Baby" clothes pin game. everyone gets a clothes pin, and if someone hears someone else say (or spell!) baby, they get their pin (and all pins they've collected) The person with the most pins at the end of the shower wins

In the invitation, instruct everyone bring a baby pic of themselves, and a current pic (to be returned later). Then at the shower everyone has to match up the baby pic with the current pic.

dirty diaper game- what youll need- newborn diapers, bite size candy bars (snicker, mounds, butter finger, 100 grand, reeses peanut butter cup, crunch), and a camera!
what you do- slitely melt the candy bar in the diapers (so its squishy and sticky in there). then number the diapers and also make your list of whats what.
the object of the game is to pass the diapers around and have each guest smell them to determine what they are (hince why you need the camera ready!)

a word scramble- just scramble words associated with a baby. give guest a time limit to complete.

guess the mothers girth- use toilet paper or yarn to guess the girth of the mother.
have each guest guess the expectant moms girth (the biggest part of her belly) using yarn or toilet paper. then measure it to the one pre measured to the mother.

what food is this?- get stage 1 baby food and take the lables off of it. number the jars and make your list of whats what.
have each guest taste the baby food and try to guess what it is.

whats on the tray (memory game)- have some random things that are associated with a baby on a tray or table (covered up until the game starts). have all the guest look at the iteam for a few minutes. then cover the items again and give the guest 3 mins to write down everything they can remember.

baby bingo- have your guest make a bingo card of possible baby gifts and mark off every spot that has a gift they wrote down.

make a special shirt for the baby- buy plain white onsies and get fabric paints. have each guest decorate a onsie for the new baby.

My favorite game is Present Bingo. Each guest gets a bingo card to fill out with potential presents the mom might receive. As she opens the gifts guests mark off the ones they have on their Bingo card. You can do a prize for first bingo and for most squares crossed off. It really keeps people entertained during present opening which can drag on.

you can make a diaper cake. you can google or youtube the instructions. it can serve as a centerpiece and the mommy to be can use the diapers afterwards, so it serves 2 purposes. also, you can ask guests to bring a package of diapers or wipes. those that do will be entered into a raffle for a prize. this also provides mommy with a nice stock of diapers/wipes for when baby arrives. good luck.

Put together a "Concentration" posterboard with two dozen or so baby related words or phrases. Each word or phrase appears twice. Cover the words with Post Its, number them, and play like "Concentration" - each guest picks 2 numbers, hoping to match the words. When they get a match, they get a small prize. The version with candy bars as prizes is a hoot - for uncovering "baby girl," you get a Baby Ruth bar, for "baby boy" you get Junior Mints, for "dirty diaper" you get Mounds, for "doctor bills" you get a $100,000 Grand bar, for "umbilical cord" you get licorice, for "Daddy" you get a Big Hunk, for "6 week checkup" you get a Score bar, for "nursing" you get a Milky Way.

My niece bought plain white socks, burp cloths and towels as well as squeeze paint, and let each guest decorate some (on a table covered with dollar store plastic cloths).

"Guess the Food" is fun- cover the labels on baby food jars and have guests guess what flavor they are. (See how tough it is to tell sweet potatoes from carrots or applesauce from pears when you can't smell or taste them!)

Go easy on paper decorations that will just get thrown away, and try to decorate and make centerpieces from things the baby (or a sibling) already has - stuffed animals, fairy tale books, blocks.

Have every guest write their best parenting advice for the new mom in a scrapbook or on index cards. (Reading those out loud can also be fun and a great way to get conversations started, especially if the guests don't know each other well.)

Also, you don't necessarily have to do the typical "pink /or blue" decorations. One of the baby showers I helped plan we did a "primary colors" theme (bright red, yellow, and blue). You could also do a black/white theme (we did this for the other baby shower I helped plan), or "rainbow" theme, etc. Be creative, have fun with it, and just find something that matches your cousin's personality, since it is all about her anyways :)

My friends threw a shower for me and they put out onesies of different sizes (0-18 months) They deocorated a 1st birthday, christmas, new year's, halloween, thanksgiving, and many other unique onesies that my girl wore around these special events. I LOVED them! You can use sharpies or fabric paint.

Another thing that was cute was that they bought a bunch of playdoh. During th eshower, the people could create a baby out of the playdoh. My husband and I picked the one that we thought was the best. They were really funny!

-pass out white onesies & washer safe markers & have guest decorate onesies (make sure they are drinking wine/beer so they are less inhibited for those who don't think they're creative)
- beer or margaritas in baby bottles chugging contest (maybe do this before the onesies)
- who's that baby photo game - have each guest bring a baby pic (ahead of the date) and someone can tape them to a piece of cardboard or whatever& number them. Each guest tries to figure out who is who and whoever gets the most correct wins a prize
- pass out long strings and each guest cut theirs to the size they think would fit around preg. belly. Try them all on the mom to be and whoever's is closest wins some prize
- put a tiny plastic baby in a cake (or cupcake) whoever gets the piece with it wins something (be sure to warn them so nobody CHOKES)
- put paper on a magazine on their heads (each guest) and draw a pic of what they predict the baby will look like - yes, draw on the paper on top of their head. It's v. funnny. Have them sign the drawings and save them for the baby.

I am not a very spiritual person but it was AWESOME. We did the beads and I did a belly cast a few days before I was due at home with my husband. I still need to paint it. I totally recommend the Blessingway but I also love the fun games/activities too. One of my girlfriends did a big henna tattoo on my belly and then gave all the guest henna tattoos wherever they wanted them. It was REALLY fun!!!!

Okay not sure If I am too late, but I did these for my daughters baby shower. Her theme was baby pooh, so for the keepsakes, I purchased miniature bottles of honey and put "have a BEEutiful day" (with her name and date of the party etc....), then tied pink and blue ribbons on them and attached tiny bottles and pacifiers. They were a hit, because people use honey for tea and cooking, It was something they could actually go home and use. (most party favor are thrown away right? One of the games I did because the party was co-ed, not sure if yours is, but we put beer in small baby bottles (which we bought at the 99cent store) and had a contest for the men. They had to suck the beer down and the one that did it the fastest won. It was hysterical. You can do the game for women, but use maybe apple juice or wine. Its funny to see grown people sucking on a bottle.(nice xmas picture!!!) We also (for the men), blew up balloons and tucked them under their shirts, then had them sit down, untied their shoes. The idea was to see them try and re-tie their shoes with this huge ballon in their way without popping it. That was just as funny because they were pretty ingenius with trying to get around the (tummy)and it makes for awesome funny pictures. This game of course would work with women as well. For the women we did the bubble gum baby, candy in the diaper, and onsie painting. We also did, name the baby. We wrote down like 10 famous couples babies names and asked who the parents were. they had to write down both famous parents names. And lastly, we did "how well do you know the mommy to be"? We asked a series of questions of the mommy, like what was her favorite pregnancy food? How much weight has she gained. She went around the party all day and talked about these things but the game was to see who was paying attention. It was fun because even though she talked about all the things that were in the questions, only half remembered. That was the final game. Anyway, hope these idea help. Envelope Raffle (helps new-mom with thank you notes):

Have a nice floral centerpiece, or something you can give away to the raffle winner.

Have a large-ish bowl to place the raffle "entries" into.

Pre-purchase (your gift to the new mom) the thank you notes that the new mom will send for all the stuff she's about to open at the party.

Leave the envelopes (along with a pen) next to the bowl on a table.

Ask guests to fill in their name/address on an envelope and place the envelope into the bowl.

At the end of the party, have the new-mom draw a name. That person wins the centerpiece (or whatever).

The filled-out envelopes and the thank you cards are a gift to the mom, to help her out.

For my sister's shower we did a Spring theme. The announcements were special made with a drawn picture of a clay pot and a baby sprouting up out of it saying "Look what we grew" and the entire color scheme was all spring colors with clay pots acting as candy dishes, etc. You can have a lot of fun with this.

Another idea I am taking from my niece's shower. They had a large blanket that everyone drew a special picture on and it was later turned into a quilt.

I always like simple games where you don't have to think to much. 1. Fill a baby bottle with candy (m&m's?) and have the guests guess how many are in there.the winner gets the bottle of candy. 2. Baby shower bingo: make blank bingo cards, have the guests fill in what they think mommy will get as presents and when she opens a gift they get to cross it off their card. Who ever gets a bingo gets a prize. You can easily have multiple winners. 3. for table center pieces buy potted flowers. Use them as prizes for winners to take home. 4. Set a timer for 5 min. when mom is opening gifts and when it goes off the person who brought the gift gets a prize. 5. Tell guests to bring a pack of diapers to win the "big prize" we usually do like a $50 target card. Often times the winner gives it to mom for the baby anyway but of course it is their choice.

For other decorations just buy some cute baby clothes and hang it on a clothesline. The items can be your gift.

I just threw a baby shower for my sister and these 2 games were a big hit and you don't see them at too many showers.

1. "Match Game" - the participants fill in the blanks and their answers have to match the mom to be.
Examples: ______ test, maternity _________, ________ book
it was really fun to see what people come up with.

2. "The Price is Right" - take items with different prices off of the registry and put them down the left side of the page (instead of numbering them, use letters - A, B, C, etc) and then list the actual registry items down the right side of the page and have them match them up. Fun to see how many the mom to be gets right since she is the one that registered.

I am also throwing a baby shower in a few weeks. Here are some things I am doing.
If it is not too late I sent out request to the guests for a very yummy and EASY recipe and picture of them self for the parents to be. I am putting it on really sweet paper, laminating it, and binding so they can make quick meals. (don't forget to make a few xeroxed copies for yourself and others that have helped. This could also be the party favor when people leave).
I took off the wrapper from water bottles and made a label with her baby picture that says ______Baby Shower & Date. Tape them on with double stick tape. They are very easy to make.
For favors I am panting small pots pink and planting flowers in them with a little note on a popsicle stick that says Thank you for coming to.....

For my SIL's shower I made a diaper cake... it turned out soo cute, it was a great decoration as well as gift for her. I also made a mold of her tummy and that was another great decoration and gift. Then we used some balloons as additional decorations and that was it. As for games, you can do a onsie making station. That's a lot of fun. Instead of games which can sometimes get a little silly... you can set up a station with puffy paints and stuff from Michaels with onsies. That way, the guests can make something personal for the baby. Just a few ideas... good luck and have fun!!

There are so many ideas out there it's crazy. Here are a few of my favorites.

- Decorate with a variety of clear bowls filled with colored glass rocks (blue, pink, or both) and water with blue and/or pink food coloring. Float a variety of rubber duckies in them.

- Take paper plates and have guests put them on their head. Give them each a crayon and give them 1 minute to draw a picture of the upcoming baby. Hint: It's easier not to lift up your crayon as you have trouble with where to start again. The mom-to-be picks the best one.

I just went to a baby shower my friend was giving for her daughter, and she had the funnest matching game. You make a big board 30" by 30" or something... and you square it off like a giant bingo card... then you put matching words on the squares in random places. Then you cover the squares with post it notes. You number the post it notes. Then when it comes time for the game you go around the room in clockwise (or counterclockwise) and have them play memory, choosing two numbers to see if the words under it match. The words are things like "breast" for example and when the guest finds the two matching "breast" squares say "and what do you get when the baby finds a breast?" and then the prize is a Milky Way candy bar. :-) And all of the words match the prize like "good husband/boyfriend" gets a sugar daddy, or "delivery" brings a baby ruth" you can come up with words that match any candy bar to fit a baby shower. You just go around the room until all of the squares are uncovered. The time we played the people who had won didn't get to pick squares again and it seemed like everyone got a candy. It was fun, filled the time, and everyone got candy.

Hi M.! I've hosted a few baby showers and one really fun game is to get tiny plastic babies that come in a package of 6 ( I think). They are about a 1/2" in size. They are sold at both Michael's craft store and Walmart (I think in the cake decorating section). You take the babies and put them (along with water) in an ice cube tray. Freeze them and then bag each ice cube baby separately in a sandwich baggie. If you want, you could tie pretty ribbon around the baggie, but that is for decoration only. Keep the individual baggies frozen until you are ready to play the game. The object of the game is to see whose "water" will break the fastest. The players have to try to melt the ice cubes to get the babies out any way they can. Some people would hold it in their hands others behind the knee. I think one person actually microwaved it. Everybody ended up having a lot of laughs with this one. All you have to tell the guests is get creative and whoever's water breaks first, gets a prize.

Games I've played at showers (including my own) were:
1) As others have mentioned, the onesie decorating station. I still have some of my favorite ones.
2) Diaper races... get some cloth diapers (which work great afterwards as burping cloths) and some stuffed animals (or dolls) and race to see who can diaper the "baby" the fastest. We did it in heats; winner took a prize gift certificate.
3) Using ribbon, have everyone cut off a length that they think will fit around the mother-to-be's stomach. Whoever is the closest wins.
4) Get some inexpensive plastic beaded necklaces and when everyone arrives they get one. Anytime someone catches someone else saying a key word like "baby" (you announce the list of off-limit words when they come in the door) the caught person has to give up all the necklaces they had accumulated. Whoever ends up with the most at the end of the party wins.
5) Ask everyone to bring a picture of themselves when they were a baby. Arrange them all on a table with a number and have everyone list on a piece of paper which number belongs to which guest. Whoever has the most matches wins.

Prizes at my shower were small gift certificates to Target, Bath and Body works, and Barnes and Noble. Just some ideas... and have fun!

I have always had my baby shower AFTER the baby was born. It cuts down on visiting time and allows me more time with my baby. Also, I only have to tell the birth story ONCE and everyone gets the baby something specific for her/him....and they get to meet the baby, which is what everyone wants anyway.

In fact, we had the baby shower 10 days after our 3rd baby was born and everyone got to vote on how they wanted the middle name spelled. It was 14 - 2 and I wanted what the majority came up with and the minority wanted what my husband wanted - ironically, it was my MIL and SIL's votes that were outnumbered.

Hi M. - I have a gross but REALLY FUN babyshower game idea. You take 5 or so diapers and melt fun size candy bars in the microwave in the diaper. the ladies then take turns gussing what candy bar is in each diaper. Like I said gross but really fun. I played this at a baby shower and everyone had a really fun/funny time with this.

A baby shower brunch is good. I gave my fried the idea, it tured out great, she had waffles, eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, muffins, mamosas it really turned out nice.Also cupcakes are the big thing these days, instead of a messy cake.

Hi! My friends threw me a blessingway, or mother blessing, the non-commercial “equivalent” to a baby shower. It’s focused on the pregnant woman, to honor the transition into motherhood. Mine was sooo lovely.

Traditionally, a ceremony, marking the transition of Maiden to Mother, blessingways are an opportunity for a mother to be surrounded by close friends and family who she trusts - and can gain wisdom from.

There are many ways to celebrate a Mother Blessing including the creation of a birthing necklace, flowers, foot bath and hair grooming for the expecting mother, as well as sharing thoughts, poetry, songs, personal stories, prayers, best wishes and gifts with the expecting mother to honour her impending birth.

Like a baby shower, it’s a lovely opportunity to share good food, and good company, but that’s where the comparison ends. A blessingway, is focused on the mother. It’s her day to be pampered, and encouraged!

Here are a couple of ideas for blessingways, that pamper the mom to be, and are fun for the guests.

Bead Ceremony:

Each guest brings a special bead to the blessingway, and threads it onto a string or chain to make a necklace for the mother to be. It’s a nice thought to give a blessing or message with your bead as you thread it on, perhaps why you chose it, and it’s significance.

Candle Ceremony

Each guest brings a candle to the blessingway, and the labouring woman lights it when she is in labor, to be surrounded by positive and loving thoughts.

OR

The mother to be provides each guest with a candle to light when she goes into labor, so their thoughts are with her from afar.

Quilt Ceremony

Each guest brings a piece of fabric, or quilt panel to the blessingway, and together they lay out a quilt design to be sewn together. It’s nice if someone other than the mother to be has the responsibility of sewing the quilt! This makes a lovely gift.

The wonderful thing about a blessingway is, it’s so personal to the mother to be - so if she’s crafty, centre the activities on that. If she’s a gardener, plant a commemorative garden, if she’s a cook - bring food (that said, it’s nice for guests to bring a freezable meal for after the birth) If she’s musical, compose a song. Use your imagination.
