Does anyone know of a topical over the counter lotion that is good for excema? I would really like something without steroids that is natural for my 2 year old.

What can I do next?

I think baby Aquaphor would work great you can buy it at any drugstore in the lotion area. It is made by Eucerin.

C., for the oatmeal bath.. get some plain oatmeal, place 1 up in a cotton towel, tie close good, and cook as directed. Place the oatmeal filled towel in the water until cooled and bath your child if it was soap. I also add Olive oil to the water( to soften the water) and it helps the dryness and soak for 5-15 min just depending on the child, daily.. but depending on if he/she is having a really bad breakout 2x a day in luke warm water. Pat dry and lotion or oil up. I use Aveno soothing reloef moisture cream, mix with Castor Oil, and hydrocortisone if needed. Also keep long sleeves and pants on the child.. The skin is very sensitive to dirt.. Oil as needed.. My sister is sending me some Pure Shea butter and some Black soap that a lady suggested( her kid has excema).. so will keep you posted when I receive it.. Also no fragrances and the food intake can also flare the excema.. Water, water, water.. for my son I buy Propel packs and add to his water.. so he's happy, it taste like juice but not suggey.. The kind he loves is Berry and either Kiwi and or Raspberry Limonade..Hopes some of this helps, Excema is a on-going stuggle for us..Not to mention very irrating for him.. Goodluck

cetaphil, aquafor and aveeno are the best over the counter. Cetaphil is actually a "cleanser" so it leaves no residue on the skin. Our pedi dermatologist told us to use that. Also I found also the Arbonne baby line along with the Nutimin C line worked very well also.

Sharon Krahn is working with an all natural company out of Carrollton to create an excema cream. She also naturally treats for excema - www.sharonkrahn.com. She is wonderful!!!
A mom I know whose son had terrible excema used Eucerin Cream. You can find it at any drug store, Wal Mart, etc.
Good luck!

Dove non-sented works great. We also use the soap as well and my son's excema has gotten so much better.

I use Cetaphil cleanser instead of regular soap at bathtime, and Aquaphor 2 or 3 times a day. Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Cream is good too, and you can find it with the other baby lotions.

You can do some searching on the internet and see exactly what all it says. . .I've read that a little vinegar in the bath helps and even a little olive oil in the bath (don't use both together though).

Burts Bees has a great line of baby/kid products that I highly recommend. Sprouts has a ton of different things, and Target has some as well.
