My mom & I are just starting to plan a baby shower... The mom-to-be loves the outdoors, so we were thinking of trying to find a good location for an outdoor baby shower for early spring. It would be nice to have access to a small area with air conditioning, though, just for the food or in case of inclement weather. We're a pretty casual family, so we wouldn't need anything fancy - a nice park, garden, etc would be great. I know there are lots of reception halls around, but they are usually so big & expensive. I would love to keep the cost of renting a facility down to have more available to spend on food & everything else. I'm not sure where to begin looking. Anyone know of any good parks or other locations with a small meeting room and an area to set up a canopy outside? Any ideas will be welcomed & greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

Bear Creek Park on Clay Rd. is beautiful!! They have pavillions you can reserve. I think it is just a $125 deposit to hold your space and then once it is done, you get your deposit back. (I gave them a check and they just held it, never cashed it.)
They also have a community center, but I am not sure on the fee for that. You should call to find out.

Good Luck! =)

Burroughs Park! They have a covered area you can rent for parties, reunions, etc, and they have a beautiful lake! There are several playgrounds for children, in case you have mommies that cant find a sitter. Its a wonderful park, and they have hiking and walking trails. I'm really bad with directions, so it would be better for you if you mapquest directions. Our family uses this park often, for hiking, summer lunches, and just a place to hang out.

Have you thought about having it at a Tea Room or Bed & Breakfast? Montgomery, TX (NW of Houston) has several with beautiful garden settings.. . .just a thought.

What about the arboritum (sp?)? You might see if they have an area for things like that. Good luck
