I need to get an efax account, quick! I did a search online but even those advertising free service have set up charges, and other montly charges.
Is there one you use that you're happy with? And if not free, how much you pay?
Thanks,
S.

Hi,
I did this research a few years ago - so my info may be outdated. I ended up working with a local company in Hawaii for a $5/mo fee, but found Packetel at 3.95 per month unlimited e-fax at www.packetel.com - they were not servicing Hawaii at that time. These were both for incoming faxes only - not outgoing.
Smartfax.com was 6.95/mo for unlimited incoming and 5 cents a page for outbound faxing.
www.intermedia.net had different levels of service depending on how many pages you plan on faxing.
Efax was the most expensive in my research.
Best of luck!

I use myfax.com and it is $10 a month for a toll free fax number and it all comes to email. Mine is a business account. A personal one may be cheaper. The service is really good.

On efax.com, as long as you don't care what area code is assigned to the fax number, they will give you one for free.

I've been using efax forever. ican't remember how much I was paying. I did use another one that was free for a while but if it was idle for more than 30 days, they'd shut it down. I'd recommend paying so you don't have to worry about them shutting it down and if you're getting it for business, it looks more professional to have a local number.
