okay, so I am starting to swim at the Y and notice that there is many many women that are not shy to express their beauty in the locker room. Is that you or not ? I just feel shy about this issue...that I tend to be very private.

What can I do next?

Ive never been comfortable undressing in front of others. Not even my sister who will strip down naked and hop in her spa. Just not my thing.

I think it's like men at urinals, you just don't look. I'm certainly not interested in checking out the other ladies' bits. Just be careful though of lap swimming etiquette (lol - see my latest question), and try not to get into any fights! :-)

Once you've had kids, all dignity goes out the window. Once everyone's been between your legs like that, helping you with everything from stretching your perineum during childbirth to wiping your butt because you pooped while pushing... yeah, seeing a pair of boobs or a saggy stomach (or showing mine off) just doesn't matter anymore ;) I know you said 'beauty', and I mean, if you've got it, flaunt it... but even if you don't (like me), who cares?! As the old saying goes 'you've seen one, you've seen them all' ;)

I am just like you. I am shy as well and sorry I dont want a bunch of ladies seeing me like that, and I sure dont want to see them either! Sorry.

I always go into a stall to change or what not, and I dont shower there. I guess I am just a more private person.

I've never been shy about nudity, but they way I dress you'd never know it. I think my upbringing boarders on European regarding ideas of the body.

I was modest until after giving birth and losing all dignity. I dont mind showing my boobs in the locker room but dont feel comfortable showing my nether regions.

How old are you honey???

I used to be shy..not anymore. It's takes too much time to hide everything. So I just let it all hang out. I'm too busy trying getting myself ready to stop and notice too much about the other women.

I don't mind showing the boobs. The problem is down there. I don't care for someone to give me a showdown. I got disgusted looking at a woman literally spreading her legs out while she was changing. She sat on the bench and like a little girl opened wide. No thanks. I like women to be a little discreet with themselves.

The locker room is just the locker room, lol. I admit I have a little phobia of showers not being cleaned properly in a fitness center with "high traffic" and can have a quiet little panic attack thinking of mutant mildew running over to me and getting into my bloodstream through my feet (HAHA--exaggeration, but still, I generally won't shower until I get home)-but if I'm coming out of the pool or changing into cleaner clothes to get home in, it's not a big deal at all. Maybe it's because I grew up in sports, but it's just a locker room. I don't huddle over at the lockers trying to cover myself and look silly like I'm dressing in a parking lot outside or something, but I've never had to do anything spread eagle while naked either. I just walk over, open my locker, dry off, take off my clothes, put on dry ones, and walk out. Sometimes if I'm in conversation with someone on the way to the locker, we just maintain conversation until it's over and we say goodbyes. It's really not a big deal. And if someone thinks it is, it's their issue not yours. The best rule of thumb is to not bring attention to yourself by "hiding" up against the locker and dressing strangely so that you try to insure that nothing shows, but also don't prance about flaunting yourself. I don't think people look or pay attention if you just act normal. That said, there was ONE lady I saw that took all her clothes off before deciding she should stretch out and do her toe touches, lunges, and stretching out her hamstrings. I just ignored her because I thought that was a little fruity, and knew she was HOPING we'd gawk at her. Whatever. My only concern with her was more like "Hey chick--put down a towel before you sit". Otherwise it shouldn't bother you. Everyone's just doing their own thing, they all have the same parts as you, but if you're super shy and can't feel comfortable, you could just get dressed in the stall. I knew some people that dressed in the bathroom instead of the locker room.

I don't like to change in the locker room either. I do, but am discreet about it. I don't try and hide in my locker but I move quickly and don't do other things while I am commando.

Here is my little tid bit of an opionion. I feel like our bodies are sacred and should be treated as such. Flaunting them lessens the sacredness of them in my opionion. It also makes others around you uncomfortable. Get dressed in the stalls that is why they built them! :)

I change quickly facing a wall. I try to be discreet, but it's no big deal to me that there's other people walking around who could see me and it doesn't bother me at all that other women are changing.

I hate the locker room feel so we go in the private changing areas. With a four year old boy that LOVES boobs and butts (because they are FUNNY according to him) it's almost a neccesity.

My beauty?! OH GIRL!! Not only no - but HECK NO!!!!

It's not that I am private - I just don't feel that I'm all that and a bag of chips....I don't need to have my ego inflated nor do I need to hear from other women how pretty they think I am...I need to hear it from my husband....

my sister and i laugh about it every time we go through the locker room. I worked at a Ymca for a few years and there was an elderly Russian woman who was notorious for flaunting her stuff in the locker room. One time I was walking through the ladies' room and she was stark naked, demonstrating some of the step-aerobics moves she just learned in a class to another woman. There was lots of bare flesh jumping up and down and all I could do was stifle a laugh and run out of there. Another time, she forgot she was naked (because she would literally just walk around the locker room naked chit-chatting with everyone) and she walked out into the hall where there were kids and their parents having a rock climbing class haha
