Is It True You Gain Two Cup Sizes When You Get Pregnant on Average?

I'm just wondering because my mom said she went from being an A a very small 32A to being a 36C. Will I have to be a 36E? And if so what can I do to slow it down? Because my mom's boobs went saggy because they grew so fast so how can I prevent this?

What can I do next?

________

A lot of A/B women just don't have fully developed mammary glands & ducts prior to nursing. After the hormone push, they do. So they stay bigger.

Some, though, have fully developed glands, and are just in the 'more than a mouthful's a waste' category forever. (I'm someday saving for a reduction to that group!).

Sigh. Bit on the "Boobies!" Question. That's what I get for not reading names & responses. Ah, well. I'm guessing a real person actually had that q at some point.

<grin> or hey. Maybe its Jacqueline

Great first question, J.! Welcome to Mamapedia.

I had to google it, but it appears that breast/cup sizes do not generally increase for men during pregnancy.

But that leads me to ask you a question. If a rooster is directly sitting on the peak of a roof, and lays an egg - how do you determine which side of the roof the egg will roll down?

But excellent question!

I went from a DD, to an F...and then to an H once my milk came in.

That said, I didn't nurse either of my kids...and my boobs were unscathed as a result. They're back to their normal DDs, but not saggy.

It is different for everyone. Mine changed, maybe, half a cup size. My SIL changed 2+. The key is to wear a supportive well fitted bra, even through the change.

No - it's not necessarily true.
Because there are too many variables to make any sort of prediction.
It's going to be based on genetics (how did your mother and grandmothers do), how much weight you gain, how many kids you have, do you breast feed (some women use formula and get a shot to suppress milk production), and sagginess will often depend on how well the breasts are supported at all times (wear a leisure bra at night, never go bra-less, have a good sports bra to minimize bouncing, have swim suits with good build in bras, etc).
Skin stretches over time and gravity has an accumulative effect.

So - as far as prevention goes - watch your weight gain and wear bras with excellent support - never let the boobs dangle.
Besides genetics, skin elasticity will also be affected by nutrition, smoking (or exposure to 2nd hand smoke), sun damage (if you tan a lot either through direct sun light or with tanning beds).

I went from an A cup to a BIG C cup. When I stopped breastfeeding, I went back to a B. I was in my early 20's.

In my family, when the women hit about 30, we gain another cup size. I was 32 when I went up to a C.

Everyone is different. It's really dependent on genetics, I think. It's likely that you might be similar to your own mom in that way....or you might not. Only time will tell.

My breasts dis not grow at all during pregnancy. My son is 4, and they never did/still don't sag. I did not produce any milk, either. So...obviously I didn't breastfeed.

Cup size is relative to band size 32 A = 34AA = 36AAA. So if a woman goes from 32 A to 36 C she has gone up 5 cup sizes.

A 34D has the same cup as a 36C and a 38B the cup is the same size, the band or measurement around the body is different.
