In Search of a Dentist

I am looking for a new dentist, mainly for my daughter, but also for myself (if it's not a pediatric dentist). Here is the short version: I found out my 6 yr old has 2 cavities. And obviously they need to be taken care of. My old dentist wanted to "knock her out" and would not let me in the room with her while the procedure was going on.

Can anyone recommend a wonderful dentist/practice that doesn't jump at putting a child under and more importantly, one who WILL let me stay in the room with her during the procedure? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

PS- I live in Pottstown. :)

What can I do next?

Hi Stephanie. My daughter is six and my son is three. I moved to Pottstown from Downingtown two years ago. I have not been able to find a dentist for myself but I do love my children's pediatric dentist. Her name is Dr. Loretta Healy. Unfortunately, she is located in Exton and that can be anywhere from a 20 minute to 40 minute drive from Pottstown depending on the traffice. I find it worth it, though. The hygenists are wonderful and Dr. Healy is great. My children have not had any major dental work but just yesterday I was there with my daughter and there was a little boy, age three, having work done by Dr. Healy. The mother was present and the little boy was awake. They mentioned tooth decay, an exposed nerve - but the boy seemed absolutely fine with what was going on. She is located on Thomas Jones Way in the Oakland's Corporate Center. Good luck!

My 2yo son goes to Charm pediatric dentistry in Blue Bell, Pa. They are very good and offer services to parents; however, I'm not sure if they can be an adult's primary dental care -- they do more like whitening and cosmetic dentistry for adults.

I am familiar with this practice, they are very good. My cousin's son (age 6) has had fillings done here for cavities and he was fine, they didn't put him to sleep. They did recommend that his Mom NOT be in the room and I have to agree that they do much better when mom/dad aren't present.

They are great... They are not pediatric, but great with children. They are always ok with me being with my kids. It is a husband and wife practice. The location is just beyond the hospital on High Street. Good Luck!
