I Need to Travel...

I am needing to get away from my head....If you could go anywhere is the world where would you go and why??

I think I am gonna go with Europe. I wouldnt go to one place. I would have a back pack and just go. I wouldnt want to have everything planned ahead. I would stay where I could get a room and afford. I would go by taxi, train or bus. I would buy a really nice camera. Just get lost in the art, history and scenery of it all.

Ahh...ok now where would you go?? what would you do?

What can I do next?

Sometimes, just going to Target is enough of a vacation for me! LOL

But if I *could* (and we may) I would like to go to Italy. And Greece.

I'm not really counting my impending, someday, delayed-gratification summer, alone, beachfront with a trunk full of books.

Ireland, Italy, Greece, Hawaii, Fiji, Spain, Egypt, Austrailia, the list is practically endless. I've been almost nowhere & yearn to see the world, taste the food, see the people, smell the smells & just EXPERIENCE different places in general.

When I need a virtual vacation, I go here and read about travelling to far away places. I really like the travel tales and solo travel advice.

Right now I wish I could go to Maine. I'd go hiking in Acadia National Park and eat some lobster at one of those roadside stands where they steam the lobster with frest seawater.

I stayed at a hostel in Germany a few years ago. Every other day, a bus stopped at the hostel. It was a company called Busabout. Apparently you pay one price and can get off or on the bus anywhere; the bus just has a schedule for stops and you need to be there to ride. Hostel stays are included. So...if you like Berlin, you might get off there and stay a week, then get back on and head to Amsterdam. Maybe you don't like Amsterdam much, so you only stay two days before getting back on the bus. The buses travel throughout Europe. You decide how long you want to stay in each place. Here's a link: http://www.busabout.com/

To answer your question, I'd love to trek the Australian outback, or the Amazon. Or South Africa. For a less wild trip, I fancy visiting Italy someday. Right now, hubby and I are considering Belize for vacation next year.

Right now I would love to go to Egypt - but only because my husband is currently deployed there! :)

Other than that, I would like to go to Ireland with my husband. He is Irish & hasn't been there in a loooooong time (other than being in an airport waiting for a connecting flight). I would love to see the land.

I'm not too good with speaking other languages, so I'd have to go somewhere where the people speak fluent English! LOL Hubby's the multilingual, not me!

I would go to Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, all by cruise ship. If you are far enough out to see, your cell phones don't work. I could relax in the sun with no one to bother me.

Aloooooha! You can find me on the beach in Hawaii! (But not the big island... that's a little volcanic and barren wasteland-ish for me. Maybe Kauai or Maui!)

And if I ever got sick of that (not likely), I'd go back to the South of France.

Ahhhhh... Okay, better log off and get back to work! LOL

I would go to the countries that don't cost too much and are still fairly pristine without too many tourists. Croatia, Sloe vakia, Slovenia, Czech Rep. Hungary
but in Hungary it's hard for English speakers. Only young people know English.
I would go to the mountains and the beaches. In Czech Rep concerts don't cost too much and I'd go every night. I'd tour the glass factories but not likely buy much because it is too costly. I'd go see the old Jewish quarter which is one of the best preserved in Europe.
I'd go to concerts in Hungary too as they do not cost too much. In Budapest I'd spend the whole day at the baths the name of which begins with G. I'd go to see their national congress house. It is sooo beautiful.
And I'd take some tours around the city and go on to see the countryside.
Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe and so is Prague.
Slovakia has a national park worth visiting.
Most tourist bureaus are very helpful.

I went to Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the '90's, it was an awesome trip. I went by myself and backpacked around and my schedule was very flexible. I purchased a Eurail pass and stayed in hostels. I met some wonderful locals and others traveling like me.
