I Feel Pregnant, but the Test Is Saying NO!

I had my Mirena IUD removed last month on the 14th. The very next day I started my period and it lasted a whole 2 weeks, 14 days. My first question is: Since my period lasted 14 days, when should I expect my period? Should it still be 28 days from the start of it, or will it be longer. If it is still 28 days, then Im 2-3 days late. I have all the beginning signs and symptoms of being prego. I feel exhausted, nauseous, hungry, sore breasts, white discharge, twinges in my abdomen and pelvis, emotional, caffeine sensitivity. All of these are symptoms I've had with my other 2 pregnancies......So, I took a test last night and it came back negative, was sure that it was faulty, so I took another one right after the first, negative again. I am extremely frustrated, my body is telling me that Im prego, but the test is saying otherwise.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Soooo, after 6 negative pregnancy tests and being 2 weeks late I started my period. I was not prego after all, everything I was experiencing were symptoms from coming off the Mirena. Yesterday I ended up taking a test though because I started feeling 'funny' again, and what do ya know, POSITIVE! I have my first appt scheduled for August 6th and we are very excited! Thank you all for your responses.

I would wait 3 more days (very hard to do, I know) and test early in the morning with am urine (the strongest). You may be testing too early if your period was off last month. If still negative and you still have the symptoms I would have a blood test done. I remember when I had my IUD removed when it was time for baby number 2 I had 2 or 3 months where I would have bet the bank I was pregnant and I was not. When I actually was pregnant (about 7 months later) it was not as obvious accept for the lone symptom of heartburn.

Test again in three days if Aunt Flo hasn't visited. Use first morning urine. Oh and use First Response Early Results test. They have a sensitivity of somewhere between 8 and 25! A blood test is 5 and most other pregnancy tests require HCG of 50 or more... So it is definately a winner. I've known people who have gotten positives with that one only SIX days after ovulation. Not bad at all! Most you would be more likely to get 14 days after. but give it three days by then you should FOR sure have enought HCG if you use a FRER and first morning urine. Nothing then I'd wait a week and try again if no BFP or AF if you are trying to conceive I'd call my doctor and see if they can give you that pill that will jump start your period so you can start again.

Good Luck! I tried to conceive for a long time and finally got my little angel after tons of research and effort. :)

For both pregnancies I've had, I knew before the test. Just wait a couple of days and take another one. If it's still negative, take another one in 2 more days. Chances are, it'll be positive one of those days if you are really pregnant! And then you'll have a pretty exact idea of when your baby will be born! (The test reads positive 8-10 days into pregnancy)

It takes 11 days after conception for a test to come back positive. You will need to track from when you had sex to get a better idea.

It's too early for a test to show definitely. Wait another 2 weeks then take another pregnancy test. You may not have enough of the hormone in your body yet to show positive. Also your body is getting used to the changes you made, it just needs time. I'm assuming you don't normally have 14-day periods...so your cycle may be off right now. I'm not saying you are pregnant, but I am saying, trust your body, give it time and test again.

Not sure about the period question, as I am about to post one of my own, but I'll tell you that I was 12 days late with my last pregnancy before a test came back positive!

The Mirena IUD has a very low dose of hormone that is released, and that may be why your body is reacting the way it is. Your menstrual cycle can take up to 6 months to return to normal, though with an IUD, it usually doesn't take that long. I would suggest waiting a week or so, and if you still haven't gotten your menstruals, take another test. If it's still negative at that time, give your doctor a call and go from there.
Good luck!
