Hi everyone. I have been battling acne forever, I'm 26, and am sick of it. And I have tried everything. When my acne was more under control, I was on birth control. Well we are trying for our 2nd, so no birth control. I'm on the Murad products, and I think they do a good job. But I've had more on my face in a long time. I know when I'm stressed I get it, and my face is very oily. What other suggestions do you have for me? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What can I do next?

If you've never tried Proactiv, please do. I have had acne for...20 years now and it is so unfair that I am getting wrinkles now and the acne never left. I have also tried A LOT of treatments, antibiotics, prescription topical creams, birth control pills (only worked for the first 4-6 months of any given pill) and proactiv has been my favorite. It costs approximately $20 per month, or less if you use less. You can find it and order it online, or in some mall kiosks.
I hope that helps!

Try Boielements! www.bioelements.com This is a wonderful line that you can fine in professional salons and spas. I battled with acne and this is an AMAZING line. A little goes a long way with the products! Well worth the investment for clear skin. I only found one salon in your area that carries it. Call and ask if they could do a consultation about the product with you. They have a great acne line and also ask about their custom blending! I use a product called Clogged Pore Inhibitor that is mixed in to all of the products I use! Works like a charm! Here's where I found the nearest location to you:
MASK HAIR DESIGNS AND DAY SPA

Good Luck!

I heard about Burts Bees "acne stick" on this site and it is fantastic! It's not drying and is worth giving a try. I will even use it on problem areas when stressed to prevent and my skin has never been better.

I am having a few friends with acne and I recommend the Aloe Vera Gelly along with the Aloe Liquid Soap and it helps.

For you, I would like to recommend the Aloe Vera Gelly, the Aloe Liquid Soap and Aloe Vera Gel. The Liquid Soap is to wash the face and the Aloe Vera Gelly is for you to rub on the face. The Aloe Vera Gel is to cleanse you from the inside out, that is, it is going to detox you.

Please check te website www.foreverliving.com

Since you want another child my suggestion is no good right now.

I used Accutane when I was 30 and worked great.

YOU CAN NOT GET PREGNANT using that drug. You are almost guranteed to have a child with a birth defect. I'd wait until you were done having kids and look into it.

It changed my life. :)

Find out if benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid works better for your face. Proactive uses benzoyl peroxide I believe. I use Arbonne Clear Advantage acne product. There is a wash, toner, moisturizer, "zit" cream and supplement. The most important part to trying a new system is to use it atleast three full consistent months. I really like that this system has a daily supplement. I have been using this product for three months and have lots of it left. I think it should last me five months or so. I still have a few breakouts during my cycle but other than that I hardly break out. I use a face masque which makes a HUGE difference. I wish I was more consistant with the masque.
I have an ID# that gives me a discount on the product. Let me know if you want me to get some for you or if you know an Arbonne consultant that can help you out.

Hi A.,

I have struggled with acne since I was about 13. VERY VERY BAD. As in make-up doesn't cover very well at times and people stare.... It's embarrassing and I am extremely self-consience (sp?) about it. At times it gets better but then it gets worse again.

I've tried EVERYTHING!!! Pro-active, Murad, prescriptions, avon products, egg whites, shelf products, etc. etc. - even ACUTANE..... Nothing has ever really helped very much. Acutane helped (but I was 16 and NOT sexually active) and I would never use it again because it is so dangerous and has so many possible side effects.

I took one of your other post's advice. I've been using the rubbing alcohol on my pimples for 2 days now and there is quite a difference!!! I hope it keeps up and completely clears my face and back up! Good luck~

i am 46 years old and have had problems with oily skin...not so much acne but a few blemishes. i have used rubbing alcohol every day since i was 15. i have very nice skin to this day and don't show my age..most people think i'm in my late 30's. so rubbing alcohol hasn't not dried out my face or ruin my skin. so try it for a week or so and see how it works on your skin....everyone's skin is slightly different and reacts differently!!

I have a friend who has also battled acne for most of his life.. At 30 he decided to give Proactive a try, it cleared it up very nicely. He said they tried some others that were maybe a little less expensive but it didnt work so he went back to the Proactive and it works wonders.

I also have a friend that uses Rubbing alcohol on her face daily as well afterwards she sprays rose water for hydration.. It seems to work for her but I dont know if she has a big problem with acne otherwise.. I hope you can figure it out.

It could be in the products that you're using - look at the ingredients. If your products contain any pore clogging oils or fillers that clog your pores, it's probably adding to or causing the breakouts. I'd be happy to send you 1-week's worth of complimentary skin care samples of L'Bri Pure n' Natural. L'Bri is an aloe-vera based skin care line that contains lots of vitamins, minerals, herbs and botanicals and no artificial colors, scents, pore clogging oils or any harsh or cancer causing chemicals. Check out my website at suenelson.lbri.com and let me know if you'd like me to send you some complimentary samples.

I have the same problem and finally went to a dermatologist about a year ago. She prescribed 2 topical medicines: Azalex and Clindamyacin (sp?), both of which I've been VERY pleased with. I never wanted to use medication, but after years of trying to find the right product with no success, I needed to try something else. I think I've also discovered that cleansers with Salicylic acid works best for me. I did try the Arbonne line for Acne and worked pretty well (during this time I stopped my medication to see if this would help), but then acne started up again. So, now I'm back on topical meds and a cleanser with Salicylic acid in it (burts bees brand). Good luck!

The best I have found is Optimal Skin care products by Mannatech. The face cleansing cream is just amazing and I am now using all their skin care products. Just a little goes a long way, so it may seem pricey at first but well worth it for a product that works and a company that will give you your money back if you are not happy after using it. Give it a good try and see if your acne clears up too.

Have yourself tested for food allergies and intolerances. The skin is one of our biggest organs, and most people forget that it also does a fair amount of detoxing. If you're eating something your body doesn't like/can't handle, it will come out as "acne." Or rash, or eczema, or psoriasis, etc. Conventional doctors or Allergists do not test for food; you'll need to see an Integrative Doctor or a nautropathic doctor. I myself have many, many food intolerances. If I eat something I shouldn't, my face breaks out big time.

There are only two things that work for me: ProActiv and a regular facial (every 4-6 weeks). I've been doing this for the last 8 years. If I skip out on one of the other, I break out. Now, some people consider a facial an extravagance but for me it's a necessity.

Hi A.

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. I struggled w/treating acne for years as well. I finally decided to see Dr. Charles Crutchfield in Eagan, and am very pleased. He was able to treat my acne successfully through 2 pregnancies and breastfeeding. I have some topical cream that I use - which I was skeptical about at first, b/c I thought I would need something stronger - but it's the only safe prescription to use when pregnant/nursing. And I've been surpisingly happy with the results. So glad I'm not trying to control it w/the spendy OTC stuff (I tried ProActiv for a while and it just wasn't doing the trick). So, I would suggest seeing a dermatologist - if you get a good one they can really help, and it's so much faster, and easier, and cheaper. My prescription cost me $5 and lasts for months!

I'm a mother of three, nurse and a lifestyle educator and I often see acne change in my patients after we change their diet. Acne is an inflammatory response and is a reflection of inflammation happening inside the body as well. If you address the root cause of the inflammation, the acne can improve. Take a look at your diet and see what inflammatory foods you can eliminate.

Go somewhere where you can use minutes only if your not a fan of tanning alot... then just maybe do even 5 minutes at a time, I've been tanning since I was 14, now 27... yeah I know... Oh well.

I use Proactive and I love it. I never used it when I was prego so you might want to make sure it is safe for you. My skin would also get oily. I use the 3 step process and also the Daily Oil Contorl and the Oil Free Moisture. I also use the refining mask for spot control. You can go to Proactive.com and read about it. I believe they also have free shipping right now and you get a free item. It is a little pricy but well worth it to have clear skin!

I use Proactiv and love it. I used it through both of my pregnancies also after asking my Dr. His wife used it through her pregnancies also!
If you use it, I recommend using the mask at least twice a week. I have much better results when I do.
