Hi Moms - What have you done regarding holiday teacher gifts in middle school? Do you give them at all? Do you give to all teachers or just teachers your child has every day? Do you spend a lesser amount because you are buying for more teachers? Any advice from Moms or middle school teachers will be appreciated. Thanks & Happy Holidays!!!

I personally think something for their classroom is the best gift, if any. THis is a tight year for most people and middle school teachers know families can't afford to buy for all 6-8 teachers. It does get expensive.

I was a middle school teacher for many years. I always appreciated any item but things I could actually use in the class were the best. Well, that or chocolate :)

Not that you need this but I sell a game for Spanish teachers that helps the kids learn to conjugate verbs. If you are at all interested let me know. But like I said, gifts are very much appreciated but not necessary.

Happy Holidays! P.

We always gave something (gift card usually) to my daughters home room teacher, then she would take some of the peanut brittle we make from scratch every Christmas to her other teachers.

How about a Christmas Card saying Thank you for all your learning, etc.? I think it gets too expensive to give to all your teachers once you get into middle/highschool. I am a Sub-teacher and I would appreciate a card, gifts are nice, but in this econonomy it is hard enough buying gifts for the family!

when my oldest was in middle school, we fixed the teachers that he had for his main classes a coffee mug with some specialty hot chocolate packets and specialty teas. the teachers(female) that he had only a little bit, we gave a cute votive candle. When my second son made it to middle school 6 years later, we totally stopped the teacher gifts.
you might also want to organize letters to all the parents in the class and see if they wanted to contribute to a larger gift card purchase instead of the small items.

I loved getting borders gift cards. I could buy a book or CD for the classroom or I could buy something for myself.

I got MANY #1 teacher coffee mugs and stuffed animals.
