Nuvaring!! Best thing ever, or so I'm told... I got my hubby fixed and I had an ablation... but my friends have all used Nuvaring and loved it! That's what I would use if I had to think of BC again.

I use Yasmin. It's the only kind that doesn't make me cramp all the time.

I am on Seasonique and I only have 4 periods a yr it's great I haven't gained any weight and I have been on it since it came out some yrs ago. the only downside I have is it gives me headaches so I take them at night around 7-9 and don't get a headache from them.

S.,
Keep in mind that knowing your cycle (when you are ovulating, etc.) and using condoms during the week preceeding ovulation and a couple days after is inexpensive, very safe and hormone-free. It's a great cooperative method that works well and can help you avoid surprises. Many happy married folks have done this for years.
Good luck!

I'm on my 4th kind since having my son 19 mos ago. I like Yaz the best. It is the only one that hasn't made me gain weight. (I haven't really lost any either :( but I haven't gained.) It is also supposed to make your periods lighter and shorter. My last one was only 4 days, and it wasn't really heavy. I also used to get HORRIBLE cramps, but since being on Yaz, my cramps have been tolerable, and I only had to take Ibuprofen once. I was planning on trying an IUD, but I have really bad cysts on my ovaries, so BC is the only way I can go right now to keep the cysts under control. Good luck with your decision!

Oh, and the only drawback to Yaz I've found so far is that my insurance doesn't pay as much as I'd like them to. My co-pay is $30 as opposed to the $7-10 co-pay for the others. (As there is no generic for Yaz.)

I love my paraguard IUD. No pills, no prescriptions to fill, no hormones. I had it inserted in Jan and now don't even think about it (other than checking for the string once a month). It can make some people's periods worse (more bleeding and cramping). It did for me the first time I had it, but not the second time, with the difference being the first time I had it was before I had a child.

Was on Yaz for almost two years. Its relatively new on the market; therefore, reasearch is just starting to come out on it. My family could tell that it made me ill for 2 weeks of the month and I was always tired ( took naps every day). I just stopped it because of these things and since then I have heard horror stories about it, including personal stories from friends. Seems like every time I watch TV there is a law commercial inviting people to join them in a lawsuit against the company ! Scary ! I have heard great things about the nuvaring but use caution due to it easily falling out during hanky panky ! =)

I can't do any hormonal options because they are way too strong for me and cause severe symptoms, weight gain, etc. I finally got an IUD and I'm REALLY happy I did.
First choice would have been for my husband to have a vasectomy. I think that's probably the best option, if you are sure of your plans in the future. My hubby bailed out of that due to health issues on his side, but otherwise, I'd seriously think about that, if yours is willing. Getting your tubes tied is also a good option, but vasectomies are less involved and easier.

Well all hormonal bc makes me retain weight and feel bad. I was amazed how good I felt off the stuff! We are just going through the old condom drill around here, but did have one pregnancy scare! But since then we have been doing good;) I am also thinking of a diaphragm, your ob can fit you and prescribe one, you just have to have them check you and refit you periodically. After the next baby we are looking to do something more permanent, is that an option since your family is complete? My hubby is planning on the old snip snip after the next baby. Good luck, I know this area is difficult!

If you aredone done and for sure don't want anymore EVER and don't want to deal with hormones then talk to your OB about Esure. It is permanant, but easy to get. No surgery or down time- just done in your OB office.
But it can't be reversed, so make sure you are done :)

I have used depo provera shot, seasonique and condoms. With depo shot (no periods!) I did gain some weight over the time I was on it. With seasonique (only 4 periods a year!) I didn't gain any weight.

I have implanon and I like it. I got it inserted in my arm at my 6 week postpatum checkup and i did have bleeding for a while but i'm not sure if it was from the birth control or just from having a baby!?! It lasts 3 years and it sounds scary getting something inserted in your arm but it wasnt that bad! I dont have a period and i havent gained any weight and i just have to remember to go back in 3 years to have it removed. overall i like it just google it and see what alls out there.
