Help Me Choose a Wall Paint Color for My 4 Yr Old Son Room

We are moving into a new house and the previous owners had 2 daughters. I have a 4.5 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl. Both bedrooms are currently painted pink. The drapes in the bedroom we are using for my son are silk teal. We would like to keep the curtains as they are custom made and absolutely stunning. So my question is, what color would you change the pink walls to, to make it more masculine yet still bright and cheery? And compliments the teal drapes. Please suggest Benjamin Moore colors. Thanks so much! :-)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I took the advice of one of the responses and chose some bedding first. The bedding is mostly white with a bit of teal, orange and green. So.... after holding up 8in samples, I finally chose a very light pale blue for all over the walls, with an accent wall of green and light blue horizontal stripes. His furniture is all dark chocolate brown(inlcuding a dark brown microfiber loveseat) so I didn't want to do the brown on wall as it was too dark and mature. I want young and vibrant, but not loud. I'm going to bring out the orange with some accents(pillows, picture frames). The light blue walls really make those teal drapes pop. I'm very excited to see the finished result! :-)

My first thought would be orange!

Orange and teal is a very cute and masculine color combination...

I would first figure out what bedding you are going to use in there and find something that has a little teal in it that would help you with the color choice for the walls. Otherwise it maybe hard to find bedding that matches your walls and curtains, it maybe easier to start with the bedding.

I would do a muted teal for the walls like mountain laurel and mudslide for the trim

Hi,

I didn't read all the responses, but you could always take the curtain you want to use and bring it to Home Depot and use their color match system. If you are not familiar with it, it is a type of scanner that you would hold the curtain to and it will scan the color and give you options. Then you could take the recommended color chip to a place that you can purchase Benjamin Moore paints and match the color.

Hope this helps!

Something like Iron Ore Red would be fun and look great with the teal. Also, it wouldn't be hard to cover up the pink with it. If you'd like something more neutral, any of the golds in the Historical Colors collection would work well. I wouldn't go with something cool or blue though, because those are going to be hard to cooridinate with the teal drapes. Something warm though would be stunning.

I would either go with a lighter version of the curtain color or a brown. A mocha brown with with teal is gorgeous. Khaki would also look nice. I just did a client's room in khaki with maroon curtains for her son's room. It was perfect!

My thought would be a pale yellow. I personally love a yellow/teal combo. You could also do a cream or a beige/light brown.

I think you could even do a metallic silver. Ralph Lauren has a good one. Then accent with something rich like a coffee bean. Sorry, I don't know of any specific Benjamin Moore colors... Happy painting!

I think chocolate brown colors look awesome with teal!!! You could even do half the wall chocolate brown and half a creamy color if you don't want it that "warm" in the room!

My friend did a child's room in teal and a bright green. It's very cheery. Kinda' reminds me of colors in Dr. Seuss books, like The Lorax. I plan to paint my little boy's room in the same color. It's from Valspar 6002-6A "Sunny Dale". Have fun with it! He'll love whatever you decide to do.

Yellow or a tan/brown color. Look.on their website I know valspar and Olympia let you upload a photo and paint the room and it's more accurate then the swatches at the store.

I would go with a mocha color. If you really love the teal, mocha will really highlight it.
Good luck!
