I had a tubal pregnancy in August. I had surgery on August 22, and they removed my left fallopian tube and I found out the baby had attached itself to the outside of my uterus. This happened 8 and 1/2 years after a tubal ligation!! Well, I did not have a period for 7 weeks and then it showed up with a vengence! Now, I just started my second period since my surgery and it is just as heavy. I am worried something is wrong. I have had accidents at home on my bed and at work on my chair. I have never been this heavy. Should I make an appointment with my gyn or just give it more time???
My first 4 or 5 periods after my tubal were ridiculous. They have evened off a bit 8 months later but are still heavier than before. They are more like they were when I was a teenager. I would say to give it 6 or more months and see if they subside a bit. If not, I would head to the Dr.

I had a tubal in April 2006 and my periods have never been the same since. They are extraordinarily heavy. The first year I would have to wake up in the middle of the night and use the restroom (if you know what I mean). A light bulb finally went off and I started using a pad the first couple nights of my period just so I could sleep through the night. from time to time I still have accidents and it is 2 years later.
I spoke with my OBGYN about it and left with the impression that it is pretty common to have heavy periods after a tubal. I can tell you it has been 2.5 years now and they are slightly better than before, but I could still be accident prone at any time.

I am sorry for what you are going thru! After a laporscopy procedure in Feb 2002, i have 3 pretty heavy cycles, my dr said it was normal because of the procedure. Then in Feb of this yr i miscarried at 11 weeks and had a D&C and the following cycles too were extremely heavy tpp. I would contact your doctor but dont think you are being put off if they tell you it is normal with you seeing you. I had a tubal after my twins were born. Once my cycles started up, they were very heavy. After dealing with it for almost 2 years, I went to my doc. He has put me on a low dose birth control pill to regulate my hormones called Yaz. I have been on it for 3 months now and have noticed a significant change. I think you should go to your doc and tell him of your concerns.
My periods have been extremely heavy since the birth of my 3rd child and a tubal nearly 6 years ago. My doctor said it is common for periods to be heavier after a tubal - I have actualy read many studies. I am more concerned that you had the tubal - are you sure you don't have endometriosis or fibroids. All causes for excessive flow should be checked. I completely understand the accident thing - with super plus tampon and pads - I only have about a 30 minute window to do anything without needing a bathroom. Check with your doctor to make sure there isn't more going on.
After my tubal a couple of years ago, I, too, started having very heavy periods. The ob/gyn told me it was normal but they kept getting worse instead of better. When I went to my family doctor for a check-up almost a year later, I mentioned it to her. She had my thyroid checked. My counts were off and she started my on thyroid hormone replacement. My periods have gotten MUCH better and the other symptoms that I didn't realize were related until after the diagnosis have greatly improved too. It may be worth having your thyroid levels checked.

Please accept my sympathies on your loss in August. I don't remember the flow of my periods after my tubal 12 years ago, but I think if you feel something may be wrong, call your doctor! That's what they are there for - let them know what is going on and let them decide what to do. I hope you will find some answers!
When it comes to your health you should never wait make an appointment ASAP. Hope everything turns out to be fine.
I had an ectopic pregnancy in 1978. I don't recall that my periods were any heavier afterward. I had two full term pregnancies afterward and I remember that the post partum bleeding was heavy and long.
I'd check with the doctor for your own piece of mind. It should be part of the follow up anyway!
I have had bleeding issues for the last several years as I approach menopause. In the last year, I've had real issues with quantity, length of the flow period, and length of my cycle. It turned out that a round of estrogen and progesterone put things back to rights.
Depending upon your age and depending upon how far along you were in the pregnancy, your body's reaction will probably vary.
BTW, my ectopic was also on the left and due to an IUD I was using at the time. It's no longer on the market because one of the bad side effects was ectopic pregnancy especially ovarian pregnancies. Mine was in the tube and took eight weeks to diagnose. I was sent from one ER to different ER because the second had a new ultrasound machine since they were the primary birthing hospital in the town. My case is one where the ultrasound was a lifesaver and it was new technology at the time.
My OBGYN was also allowed to smoke a big stogie in the exam room with me while he and the radiologist pondered over the sonogram.

I had severe bleeding in the past. I was only told by gynocologists to have a hystercotomy or get on synthetic hormone cream. I did not want to do either. I take progesterone cream from Dr. Helen Pensanti( order it from California. She is a MD specializing in women's care.
Very important: go to bed by 10. You must get early sleep otherwise hormones get imbalanced. This can cause havoc with your system as you age.
No sugar or soy, take dairy products that are hormone free( I use Braum's).
Fish oil is very important, 2 of 1000 mgs per morning. ( This helps with depression. If bledding gets worse, discontinue this supplement for awhile).
Sea salt is a good because it has multi trace minerals
including iodine which nourishes your thyroid which gets out of whack.
DO NOT sit at the computer for long hours at night!
SItting for long hours makes it worse. If you have to at work, get up every hour and walk a bit. Exercise helps!
Take a good multivitamin.
You can use depends for less stress.

I lost half of my blood hemoglobin and still got over it!

I had a tubal in April and my periods are pretty much the same but I never really took birth control but I will tell you what my dr told me I was very nervous about having the tubal due to what I had heard about periods getting worse but my dr told me most of those women had been on birth control most of there lives and once they have a tubal they no longer take the birth control and there periods are heavy due to that but like I said mine did not change but I had never really taken birth control so my periods had always been the same..I hope this helps please let me know what the dr says....
