For Christmas I would like to get my inlaws a cookbook and maybe ingredients to make a recipe out of the cookbook - put it all in a basket but I am looking for one that is healthy - my father in law just had stints put in for heart blockage and my mother in law is trying to cook healthier for the both of them so I thought a cook book would be a nice gift - does anyone have any heart healthy cookbook suggestions?
Thanks

I just saw this. I have the Low-Fat, Low-Cholesterol cookbook by the American Heart Association and the Fix-It and Enjoy-It Healthy Cookbook by Phyllis Pellman Good with nutritional expertise from Mayo Clinic. I got them two years ago when I learned my cholesterol was a bit high. I recommend both.

My very favorite book is "The Worlds Healthiest Foods" by George Mateljan. There are some recipes in there, but it does a great job of explaining the true health benefits of foods.
Another good cook book is Eating Well. They also have a monthly magazine which may be nice for them. Because each month it has recipes of foods in season.

Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone by Deborah Madison is like a bible of simple foods, with tons and tons of vegetable recipes that can be served with simple chicken or meat side dishes.
