I cannot sleep because I can't stop thinking about this so maybe someone out there can shed some light on this.... thanks!

In May I had an ectopic pregnancy that was first diagnosed by my slow rising hCG levels. 7 months later I am finally pregnant again and just recently had my hCG levels tested, which were said to be rising consistently with a normal pregnancy. I know a little about hCG levels but still this has got me wondering...

According to my last period of November 26th I should have started my 5th week of pregnancy today (or technically yesterday 12/31, Friday). However, my hCG levels were tested on Monday EVENING and were 392 and were tested again on Wednesday MORNING (less than 48 hours) and were 710. hCG levels are supposed to double every 48-72 hours and so doubling would of been 784 but this was less than 48 hours. Anyway, my question is this:

According to online sources hCG levels for 4 weeks (which I was at the time of testing) is between 5 - 426 and hCG levels for week 5 (which started Friday) is between 18 - 7,340. If my hCG levels were already 710 by Wednesday wouldn't that mean I had already started my 5th week of pregnancy? Therefore, I am a few days further along than what I thought I was?

This probably isn't that important, I just can't sleep until I get some light shed onto this thought. Thanks!

Here is the hCG levels I found online:

# 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
# 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
# 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
# 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
# 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
# 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
# 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
# 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
# 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml

What can I do next?

My numbers didn't really follow the charts and we had an exact date to work with b/c of fertility treatments. My baby is due in 8 weeks.

I work in OB/GYN and do ultrasound in offices. The numbers are approximations and should not be held as a definite date. Your numbers look really good. Some recent documentation actually stated the numbers should only double every third day. So far, I think things are looking good for you and wish you the best of luck.

Your levels are great and in the safe zone. They will know more when they can measure the sac and everything. That will help with the actual time frame. Getting sleep and avoiding stress are SO important in pregnancy. Try not to worry yourself over this and take care of yourself. Get some sleep!! ;)

OK... First of all, STAY OFF THE INTERNET ABOUT PREGNANCY!!!! Those numbers are statistical. Everyone has different levels throughout their pregnancy. The fact that your numbers are going up is what they are looking for. Don't get so tied up with the actual number.

Try to relax! Stress is not good for you. Congrats on your pregnancy! Everything looks great!

First of all, congrats on your BFP! It's wonderful news. I've been through 2 losses (one Blighted Ovum and one miscarriage) with a healthy pg after each one. I understand completely how nerve wracking the first weeks of pg are after experiencing a loss. Sad to sad, our innocence of pg is lost and we worry more than women who've never lost a baby while pg. After my first loss I learned a lot about stuff I never thought I would worry about, like hcg levels, and the most important thing I learned is that it's not so much how high the numbers are, but more that they're doubling every 48-72 hours. My dr would always test after 72 hours, which made me feel more comfortable. With that said, you're numbers look great, especially since it hadn't even been 48 hours. I know it's hard, but try to take a deep breath and not worry too much. The anxiety will probably never go away with your pg, but each milestone will give some relief. Your first will be that first u/s when you see the baby's heartbeat, and you're only a few weeks away from that. In the meantime, if you need an ear to vent/worry to, feel free to drop me a line.

Your numbers look good, I know (from experience) how hard it is, but try not to worry. Here's a website that I've found to be extremely helpful and full of wonderful ladies with experience and information.
