Wondering if anyone has had experience using Lilypadz nrusing "pads" which allow you to go braless? (It seems like a pasty-type thing.) I would like to know before purchasing if they are worth it. I am getting tired of wearing a bra to sleep to keep the regular nursing pads in! If you've used a similar product, I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all of your advice/info. It sounds like they shouldn't be used al the time for hygiene reasons, but I think I will purchase them for times when being braless is appropriate. Thanks again!!

My sister gave me them to try, and I LOVED them! They stayed put and you don't have to worry about leaking through them at all. They are very comfortable, that you don't even know you're wearing them! I'm also a first time mom to an amazing baby girl as well, congratulations!!!

I never used them personally. However, a relative said that she likes them. Supposedly, they are great for breastfeeding moms who will be out for an evening away from baby.

HI Karissa,

I used Lilypadz and you can really go to bed like a normal person :-) I actually stopped using anything else when I found them.

good luck!

I have not used these but I did find tank tops at Target that were for nursing. They are much more comfortable than a nursing bra and I slept in those every night until I was done nursing. You can then use regular nursing pads.

hi, I have used them and I found them a little annoying. They really do stick to you, sometimes too well. There were times that it hurt, like taking off a band-aid, when I took it off. Also, when I nursed in the middle of the night, I would often forget to get a towel next to me and the milk that pooled in the pad would spill all over me and into my bed. For something to wear with a dress or bathing suit, I would wear them, but not for everyday use. But that's just me. Hope this helped

I loved them until my husband played with them and stuck the sticky sides together and now they don't work! :( These are great for when you wear a tank with a built in bra and not showing off your nipples!

Yes. I really like them under my bra. And they're so easy to take care of- just wash them with soap and water. I don't know how they would be without a bra. If you're big, like me, (I wear a 34ff now!) you might need a bra for support too. The pads do stick to your skin. I never had any problem with leakage. I got mine off ebay, new. but they sell them in motherhood maternity too.

For when you are ready, they are great for when you are weaning and drying up your milk.

I used them and loved them. If your milk does pool a bit, they also have breast wipes that help sanitize the area. I think they are by Madella or Lansinoh.

As with everything, people are going to have good and bad experiences with them. Try them and see if they work for you. I personally think they are worth the extra money. Especially going into summer.

Greetings Karissa-
I bought Lilypadz and thought they would be wonderful. They didn't seal correctly, so my milk would pool under the surface. I didn't use them for long because of this, but they ended up giving me mastitis, which if you've never had it, well, it's not fun :o) Just a word of caution.

Good luck.

I used the Lily padz for almost a year. They are great at the beginning and will allow you to go braless. After a week or two, they start to lose their adhesiveness so you have to wear a bra with them, but they still work really well to prevent leakage. I usually got about 4-6 weeks out of a pair.

I have used them and they are great for sleeping and other things. I do not use them all the time though because a lactation consultant warned me that they can clog you if used all the time. I use the disposable ones during the day. I have never had a problem and my son is turning one Thursday and I am still nursing.

THEY ARE THE BEST THING EVER INVENTED!!!! I used them while I nursed both my babies and loved them. I can't say enough great things about them. What they say is true, go braless, sleep in comfort and have no worries about leaks. You can't even feel them. I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

I know you got a lot of responses, so let me add mine. I loved these but my girlfriend thought they were too tacky and hurt. I do NOT recommend wearing them if you are really overengorged because what will happen is you will eventually leak because of the pressure and the milk will collect IN the lily pad so it makes it very tricky to remove.

If you just use it after you nurse then it should be fine. I'm pretty well endowed so I usually wore mine in my bras so I didn't have to worry about leaking at work. It was the only product that worked for me because nursing pads moved all over the place and I always flipped out that it would move, I'd let down and then have a wet spot.

I think you will like them!

I used them and would never use anything else. I never leaked, they never chafed. They were amazing. After my milk production evened out and my breasts were not so full and sore, I was able to go bra-less at night. I can't say enough positive thing about them - worth every penny.

Just wanted to mention that these are also good for going braless AFTER you're done nursing. I do not like for my nipples to show, so you can stick these on and go out carefree!

i tried them when i first began nursing- 12 months ago. they did not work well for me- but at the time i had a huge milk-supply and a very strong let-down. i don't think anything would have stopped it! i purchased them because they came highly recommended from a friend. i am not sure if she used them braless however. i don't think they are sticky enough for that. maybe if your boobs are on the smaller side they may stay on without a bra.

My breasts were so tender and sensitive when I was nursing, I don't think there is any way I could physically stand not to wear a bra. I did, however, not use a traditional nursing bra. I went out and found one that was supportive, easy to get in and out of and worked for me. I only had to use the nursing pads until my breast milk mostly regulated. About 2 months. I just grinned and dealt with it. I bought washable nursing pads. They're thinner, natural cotton so I found them more comfortable. Good luck!!

Hi,
My Daughter is now 10 months old so I don't need pads anymore (you leak less when they get older), however when she was younger I used Lilypads somedays. I didn't use them everyday because they put pressure on your milk ducts to prevent the milk from flowing...if you use them all the time you could have more clogged ducts.I used them when I wanted something less bulky and did I realy liked them, however they only last a few weeks so they are a bit on the expensive side. I used them during the day, I am not sure how comfortable they will be at night. They did occasionally leak, sometimes my milk would pool behind them so that they would leak when I removed them, in general I did really like them though.

I did use them with my second child, but I ended up getting mastasis and quit after just about two weeks in. Trust me, you don't want mastasis... however, i would say for occasional use they should be just fine.

best of luck.

I personally have never used them but in all honesty you may need to wear something supportive be it a bra or a tank that has a built in bra. Even if these pasty things are a good idea i think they may be more for vanity then for keeping you dry. If you happen to leak with these the adhesive may not work so well and you might wish to still have that bra or tank.

I never used the Lilypadz, but I did find a soft nursing lounge/sleep bra at Motherhood that was pretty comfortable to wear at night. It slips over your head and is made of t-shirt type material. I used regular pads in it, and that worked pretty well for me. Good luck!

Since having a baby, I really don't like wearing a bra of any kind so I wear pretty fitted yet stretchy tank tops most of the time. The kind with the bratop built in works especially well because it keeps the nursing pads in place. When its time to nurse, you just pull down the side you need and presto. I don't have huge boobs so this may only work it you are a c cup or smaller. I use the laminsoh pads, the gerber ones were terrible.

I actually did not use Lilypadz but I found that the tank tops with the built in shelf bra worked very good to sleep in an hang around the house in. I would wear them and put the washable nursing pads in them and they would stay in place all night. It was very confortable.
