Has Anyone Ever Tried the Target Brand Formula Version of Enfamil Lipil?

My little boy will be here within a few weeks, and I plan on nursing him until I need to go back to work in late August. With my first child, I used Enfamil Lipil and had no problems with it. Since then, I've noticed the price has gone up. The Target version of the formula is like half the price. I know that my baby's health and nutrition is very important, but the ingredients are the same in both kinds. Has anyone ever tried the Target brand formula? If so, please let me know how it worked for your baby. Thanks!

I used Similac Sensitive for the first 5 or 6 months to supplement breast feeding, then switched to the Target brand formula when my son stopped breastfeeding. My son had absolutely no problems with the generic. I've used the Target brand formula for the past 6 months now. I would advise against Walgreens brand though. I picked it up once when I was in a hurry and it doesn't mix well and you end up with clumps that get stuck in the nipple. Frustrating...

I agree w/generic being ok to use, the FDA regulates the requirements of what is in the formula, mostly you are paying for the brand, a lot of generic formulas are made by the same company just w/a different label for store resale. I do agree that the walmart brand doesn't mix as well, I have had good luck w/the target brand and grocery store brand soy and regular.

I have a daycare & some of the parents switched to the generic brand b/c it agreed w/baby better, go figure.

Good luck & congrats on the baby.

I bought it once and decided not to use it because it doesn't have a liner in the can, it's just tin. With all of the BPA scares, I decided not to take any chances. I read that formula is one of the main things you should be concerned with as far as packaging. But I think the formula itself is just as good as Enfamil.

2 years ago, our pediatrician advised AGAINST using store-brand formula. However, I don't know if things have changed since then.

I have never used the Target brand.. but I only use the Wal-Mart/Sam's brand. I have used the Shopko a few times when I was right next to it and didn't want to run across town. They are all pretty much the same. IMO with Enfamil/ Simalac your paying more for the name. I have never had a problem with the store brand name formula with any of our 5 kids. The lady who does daycare for us also uses the store brands, I was there when the state was inspecting her and the lady even told her there is no difference in them. When you can save money and get the out come, then why pay more for just a name. Congrats with the new family addition!

We used it with our son. Both our pharmacist and our pediatrician said it's essentially the same product and meets all FDA standards.

I have a friend that used to work for Enfamil (so a bit biased), but he swears up, down and sideways that you are NOT getting anywhere near the same product when you buy generic. Don't risk baby's health to save a few bucks!

We used it with my first son, still breastfeeding the second, and it worked great. He seemed to like it the same as Enfamil. The only difference I noticed was that it isn't as foamy as Enfamil. My sister in law used the Sam's club brand with all her kids. That was like a 3lb container for 19 bucks. Either way, all formula makers have to follow the same guidelines. Congrats on the baby!

I used it for all 3 of my kids. Its basically the same as the Enfamil brand. The only difference there is is that its more of a yellow colored powder then the white powder with Enfamil. And that's the same for the Parents Choice brand from Walmart.

I used it and had no problems all formula is regulated so it has to be safe and they are almost exactly the same if you compare the two ingredients list's i used with both of our kids and they are normal and healthy but was much cheaper only time i used name brand was if i had a coupon that was better but most of the time even with the coupon target was still way cheaper
