There's a Y on Colorado, closer to the DU campus that's really reasonable and has childcare. They also have extra Y programs that you can participate in once your son gets a little older. I haven't been to that location of the Y personally but if I were you, I'd check it out. We recently joined a gym and I wasn't impressed with the childcare situation at 24 hr fitness. Visit a few different places, that's what we did — and then make your decision based on what's right for you.

Hi, B.,

If you're looking for classes you can do with your baby, you may want to look into StrollerFit. What's nice about StrollerFit is that there are 3 class formats to choose from and they all incorporate your baby into the workout, so you get the added benefit of getting a great workout with other moms and a built in playgroup for the babies. To find a class, you can go to www.strollerfit.com. Prices range from $2.75/class on up. Good Luck!

I use 24 hour fitness on Alameda and Colorado. You can for childcare as you go, $2.5 for 1.5 hours or $3 for 2 hours(?). I'm not sure about the second price since I use the first. But, if you're planning on going more than once a week, it makes sense up use their $15/month for unlimited childcare. The hours aren't too bad and the people in the child care have watched my daughter since she was a baby.

Good luck.

Hi. I live in the Wash Park/Platt Park area and go to the Ymca on Colorado Blvd and Yale. Really quick to get there if you take 25S to Colorado. I pay $60-66 (I forget) for a single parent with a child and don't have to pay extra for childcare (some places you have to pay daily if you have a child). It's a great gym and everyone is so friendly and very welcoming. The childcare workers are GREAT and Bella has been there since she was 10 wks old (she's almost 21 months old now!). I would suggest looking there. You can go in and get a weeks free pass to try it out to see if you like it. If you decide to get a membership, tell them P. Lasater recommended it to you. Ask them for the little paper you have to fill out. I'll get a month free off of paying. I know there are cheaper gyms, but you it's to know that your child is being well-cared for ya know. Let me know if you go =-) I'm always there. BTW, where in Wash Park do you live? I live off of South Pennsylvania.

Good luck,
P.

I joined 24 hour fitness, I bought the 2 year membership at Costco for $299 which I thought was a good deal. I got a childcare deal where I pay $15 per month ( it has to come automatically from my account to get it) for unlimited child care( up to two hours per visit) for my two kids! I really like the 24 hour fitness because I can go to any ( except the new one on Parker rd and Arapahoe which is really far from my house anyway!), I like the classes so I can look online to find a class that fits in to my schedule and there are about 4 clubs that are very close to my house. As far as ammetenies( sp?) it is very basic so don't expect alot there but the facilities are nice and clean and it is very convenient. I have also been happy with the childcare. I looked at some other places like the JCC and even the rec centers but when you add up the child care costs as well as the membership it adds up fast. Good luck , I have really enjoyed exersizing and having some " me" time!

You could also try Stroller Strides in Wash Park. They offer bootcamp-style workout classes you can do while your kiddo is in the stroller. Fun way to workout, meet other moms and not have to pay for childcare. There are classes in the park four days a week - strollerstrides.com.
