Good Furniture Stores in the Area?

We are looking for a new living room set and I wanted something nice but reasonable. I don't want Ethan Allen prices but I don't want say Value City Furniture quality either. Something in the middle. I think I want to go with brown leather furniture but I am still up in the air. Can someone reccomend a good quality furniture store for me? I will be in the Corinth/denton.

Freed's on LBJ, Weir's at Spring Creek and Preston in Plano is awesome and they always have stuff on sale, Havertys' is always a good place also. Hemispheres in Plano at 15th and Central (US 75) is great also...they have beautiful stuff. Another is Andersons which has several locations around town. Their newest location is on 121 in Frisco by Stonebriar Mall.

L.,
I've gotten a couple of good deals off the internet at www.dallas.craigslist.com. You do have to search for stuff there but I find that it's worth it.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi L.,

Where ever you go, don't go to Ashley. They don't have any customer services.

I would try the Dump that is off of 635 and around McCarther in Irving. They have a huge selection of stuff and seem to be reasonable. Another place that is close to Denton is off of George Bush and 35 - Anderson's Furniture Warehouse. There is other stores like the one if Frisco but this is their warehouse. We have bought all of our furniture from them and the prices are great and the quality is really good. I would recommend it! :) Hope that helps

Try Stacy Furniture in Grapevine. They have a huge showroom and reasonable prices. There's also a new furntiure place that just opened called The Dump off 635 near Coppell/Irving. Haven't been there myself....just heard all the hoopla over it.
Happy Shopping!!! And welcome to the great State of TEXAS!!!

We bought our last furniture from Bassett. I'm very very happy with the couch and chair but we returned the coffee table. It was "soft" and everything (and I mean everything) scratched it. So I highly recommend their couches and such but NOT their wood furniture. Good price, nice people, of course wait for a sale!

If you're looking for good deals on really nice furniture, there's two places that you should check out. They are both wholesale stores, but are open to the public on the weekends. The first is in Irving, called The Dump ( www.thedump.com ).

The second is in Denton, called Bungalow (sorry, I can't fing the website right now, but it's located off loop 288, west of 380.)

I haven't personally been to either of these yet, but a friend of mine went recently and said the prices were amazing....truly about 1/2 of what you'd pay for leather furniture in a regular store. The Dump is a bigger store with a larger selection. Hope this helps!

Haverty's in Lewisville. WE bought floor samples there and got a great deal and they didn't try to push too hard for things that we didn't want.

Bungalow furniture is awesome. You get really high quality furniture at wholesale prices. They are a wholesale furniture store, but they open to the public on weekends. We got a really nice suede & leather reclining sofa for $400. They are on Loop 288. I don't think they have website, but definitely go by and check them out. They run ads in the Denton Record-Chronicle. Here is a link to one of their ads from last week.

Hi L.,

I would check out Haverty's. We bought a lot of furniture from them last year when we moved to a new home. I think it's good value for money. We live in Plano, I know the two stores in North Dallas, one is at the intersection of 75 and Plano Parkway, the other one is near the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. I like the first store better, they have wonderful sales people over there, all sales people I met have years of experience in the furniture industry, with good technical knowledge. (Our experience with Ethan Allen has been a disaster, their sales people are cute and nice, but their knowledge of technical details, logistics and financing issues is very limited compared to the Haverty's staff).

We actually got a brown leather sofa set from Haverty's last year. There are advantages and disadvantages of leather. The advantage is that you can wipe food spills etc. which is great if you have three little ones running around. However, we did not find our leather sofas as comfortable as the large and soft fabric sofas we had before. You slip on them, and they make you sweat in the summer.

Welcome to Texas and good luck with everything.

I moved to Texas 2 years ago, I think it's a great state for families.

We got our furniture at Norwalk. I couldn't find anything I liked in any store because I am extremely picky. The prices were great when you are able to pick your fabric/leather, shape, and feet. Love my furniture!

I would give Haverty's a try. I bought some real nice would furniture there for a reasonable price and they offer free financing for a year if you need that option. I have been very pleased with my furniture thus far. Also Dillards has some really good deals from time to time on sofas. I ended up buying my leather sofa and recliner from them about 4 years ago and they have held up very well. They have the Natuzzi brand and some other main ones and seem to be nicely priced. Both of those are in lewisville which is just south of where you will be. If you go a little further is a store called The Dump. Not the most attractive name for a store, but it is new in the area and they have a huge selection of sofas and prices look good but haven't really checked into to them there. Good luck and welcome to the area!

We got our leather living room furniture at Freed's and have loved it. We also just bought a bunch of furniture at Ashley Furniture on 121 in Frisco and we really impressed - I was expecting it to more along the lines of Rooms to Go or something, but they had a lot of beautiful things really reasonably priced and they ended up delivering it to us in about a week and a half, which is crazy. The only down side is since their prices are so low they have a no return policy, just fyi. Have fun shopping!

Try 2 places: Weir's clearance center--it's upstairs in the Weir's store in Plano--great deals. Also, Horchow Finale---amazing beautiful furniture--also in Plano (close to Weir's). Once you go to Horchow Finale, you'll never go back to anything else. You'll become spoiled.
