I don't like traditional names, I always wanted something different than everyone else had.. I didn't want to name my daughter Sara or Ashley or anything like that because there were soo many.. My daughter is Melody Elyse... Another on the list was Myri Elyse.. Elyse is my best friend's name, so that was a solid name.. But those were my 2 favorite from the list... :-) My son's name is Perrin Anthony..

I have 2 girls, i wanted something different and modern. I have Brooklyn Renee' and Maci Mae. I love both of their names and everywhere we go so does everyone else, or at least that's what they say anyway. I also like Milan, but it's a little too different for some.

I personally like traditional names like Emily, Catherine, Sarah, and Michelle. If you want something a little more exotic or original names like River, Summer, Angel, and Lana are really nice. Like one of the mom's before me said; it's good to give them a name they can easily pronounce and write when they're young and try not to pick a name that's super popular right now... it sucks being in class with 4 or more people with the same name as you. A name is a very personal choice for a mom and we all have different reasons for choosing the names we did... My daughter was actually Megan Theresa forthe first week after she was born but the whole week I staredat her and it just didn't fit... at a week oldI changed her name to Emily Victoria and I can't picture her as anything else now! Keep in mind that the name you choose first does not have to be the one you stick with and very often you will see a name in the baby's face that will work perfectly!
Good luck and don't forget to post once the baby's born!

I had my first little girl when I was 17, it is scary but it changes your life in the most positive way if you let it. I had all sorts of names picked out, Grace, Lucy, Miranda, etc...we stuck with Haley Marissa, Sidney Rayne, and Rachel Marie. Keep looking for that special name, you'll say it more than any other!!

First of all, good luck. I had my oldest daughter in the middle of college and it was hard, but I managed to finish with a lot of help from my parents...I named her Alexandra, but didn't know Alex and variations of it were going to be so popular (big mistake). In kindergarten, she was one of three Alex's (boys and girls), and there was a Lexi and an Alexia. Maybe that was just some wierd thing where all of them ended up in the same class, but it was awful to be Alex M. Her name is pretty, though. Anyway, my other two girls are Tabitha Jamison and MaryGrace Elizabeth, and my son is Charles Cary after our dads, but we call him Chance. We almost went with the name Madison for Tabitha, and we went to the park one day when I was expecting and heard two little girls being called Madison, so that was out! Good luck and try not to go with the flavor of the day.

Hey W., I know this is kinda late, but wanted to post. Congrats on the baby and Good Luck. It will be difficult raising a baby and going to college, but with the right attitude you can do it. If your a christian, rely on GOD, if your not, consider it strongly!! :-) I am in college now @ 33 and I have two boys ages 14 and 9. So I know it can be hard, but so worth it. I am in the education program also and I wouldn't trade it for the world. GOOD LUCK.
as for girl names, I love the name Emily. I would have named a girl either Emily Faith or Olivia Faith. If your planning on attending UL, let me know, I might have some books that you can use. Have a good day, T.

With my daughter, fortunately my hubby and I both have sisters and they both have names that sound nice together. My sister is Anna, and his sister is Kathryn. So our daughter's name is Anna Kathryn and we call her Anna Kate.

Check out all of the names in your families and even go back a few generations. You probably have a lot of things to work with, and you don't have to stick with the person's actual name. You could change the spelling or make it a version of the person's name (like if your great-grandma was Annie you could go with Anne, etc.).

Girl, you can do it! I am proud of you for sticking with your dream of going to school.

God Bless you and your baby. Good for you for sticking with your plans to go to college! I would pick out a name that means something to you. My oldest daughter's name is Heather Vecelia Martin F. Heather is a name I have always loved and my mother wanted to give me that name when I was born but my dad won out with R.; Vecelia is my mother's name and Martin is my maiden name. My 5 month old daughter's name is Audrey Katharine Marie F. My husband picked out her name all by himself - Audrey after Audrey Hepburn - my husband and I watched ALL of her movies while we were dating; Katharine after Katharine Hepburn - another favorite of ours; and Marie because my husband's grandmother's name is Maria. Even our son's names came from family members. So, our children's names all have a lot of meaning to us, and them, - they aren't just names. Another mom suggested taking a look at the family tree and I think that is an excellent idea. That also can give your child a connection to his/her history.

Good luck and don't give up on your dreams. Don't be afraid to ask for help either. Being a first-time Mom is hard work, especially when you are young. Don't forget to let us know when your baby is born and what it is!

I have four girls, and it was hard to come up with all of their names. My oldest is Stephanie Nicole, then Magen Dianne, Rebecca Lee, and Jodie Renee. Make sure you pick a name that you don't mind shorting. Try not to pick a name that is really long. Stephanie had a hard time learning to write and spell her name, but she love's it now and won't just right it as Steph. Best wishes, hope all goes well for you.

My sister nearly had a cow when I told her that my daughter's name was going to be Frances - she considered that an "old lady's name." But I chose it because it means "free" - and my daughter is definitely a free spirit. Her full name is Frances Lee Elizabeth - Lee is after her dad's mom and my grandmother, and it means "poet". Elizabeth is after my best friend and means "promise of God." We call her Franke or sometimes Franke Lee. I suggest choosing names with meanings that you find uplifiting. If they also happen to be names of people that have been important in your life, bonus.

good luck! having a newborn is extremely stressful, but try and have lots of patience and support from family and friends and it goes by very quickly. i was 19 when i had my first and now i'm 25 with 3, but married for 7 yrs and i still went to college and got my RN. my girl's name is Ella (which means beautiful fairy woman) try thinking of a name that will not only sound good for a little girl, but also for a lady, because time does fly and before you know it, he or she will be six like my oldest. Ava, Isabel, Bella, i think are cute, and my last boy is Reese Wilson. i've noticed alot of girls lately named Reese because of Reese Witherspoon, the actress, i guess. good luck, and remember when you get frustrated with the baby (esp. in the middle of the night when you're sleep deprived) to walk away and get a breath instead of taking your anger out on it. Also, know that your life will keep going and even if it takes a while, a few classes at a time, you can get a degree sometime. Good luck!

Hi my name is C. I had the same problem naming my first son. I went through all kinds of boy names. I think u just need to go through all the girl names and try them out on the father of the child. If there is a name you like use it for a few days see if it sticks. Also you could try putting your name and his name together. try middle names, first initial you will be supprised what you come up with. Congratulations

Good Luck!!

My daughter's name is Emily Michelle. I found lots of possible names & helpful information on the following website:

www.babycenter.com
(You can also sign up to receive week-by-week updates of how your baby is growing inside you, and even developmental e-mails after your baby is born)

Also, coupons for baby products from www.gerber.com

Hope this helps. Also, even if you're planning on breastfeeding, I would sign up for freebies from Similac or Enfamil (or both). I was planning on breastfeeding, but couldn't pump enough, so we had to give her formula. And, if you decide not to use the freebies/coupons/checks they mail you, you could always sell them on eBay to help finance the baby. Good luck! *hug*
