Getting Sick Often After Having a Baby??

Hi,
I have not even had so much as a cold in the last few years, even when my son was in daycare. For some reason, after I had my baby, five months ago, I have already had three colds and a few sore throats. Two of them were back to back. I am getting concerned that something is wrong other than being run down. The baby does not sleep thru the night so I am tired, yet I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I am going for bloodwork when this cold is over, yet just looking for some motherly advice!
Thank you!

What can I do next?

I was the same way after my son was born. I hadn't missed work in years and all of a sudden I kept getting sick and having to stay home. My son didn't sleep through the night for a long time either. Once he started to sleep through the night, I stopped getting sick, so I think it is just being run down.

This year my family has gotten sick more than we ever have! Even my husband who doesn't get sick often has gotten a ton of things. We're a family of 5 and it was months where we just kept cycling thorugh everything because of course not everyone gets it at the same time.
My youngest is 22 months and doesn't always sleep through the night, and of course doesn't when she's sick so by the time it gets to my turn I'm already run down from caring for the kids.
I don't know if it's been this weird weather or what. I think it's just in the air this year :(

Babies can trash your immune system and everything else! :) You could go from being in perfect health to having asthma, etc. I had bronchitis three times in one year after having my second child and I had never had it before in my life. The second year after he was born I had a terrible ear infection that left me with little to no hearing in that ear and very little in the other for a month. Not cool when you have a phone/desk job. Anyway, it is pretty normal in addition to being run down from having a baby.

I think your body is just run down from not sleeping and from taking care of a baby. Its hard work and gets exhasting fast. Try and rest as much as possible. Blood work is a good idea just to be safe, good luck. I also think that this winter has been colder and wetter than normal too and that might contribute to it as well. The weather goes back and forth so much it doesnt give anyone time to adjust and that has part of it all too.

Same here! My daughter is two and I still have some problems feeling healthy. Sadly it could be a long stage! Take good care of yourself and sleep whenever you can. Good luck!

My kids and I got 6 colds in 6 months when my daughter was just born. I just figured when it rains it pours.

I had my first three years ago. Before her, I could count on one hand how many times I had a stomach virus in my 32 years of life. Since I gave birth to her, I need 2 hands to count the number of stomach viruses I've had in the last 3 years. Welcome to the joys of motherhood.
